It’s something that’s just there, keeping them rooted to the ground. But for the Red Bull Air Force, whose business is to tumble, plunge, fly, swoop and drop toward terra firma, gravity weighs heavily on them. On Wednesday at EAA AirVenture, Red Bull Air Force team members performed a unique show featuring an aerobatic plane and helicopter carrying four skydivers. The 20-minute show started with J.T. Holmes leaping out of a helicopter at just 1,000 feet — normally the lowest altitude for skydiving is 2,500 feet — wearing special gear that allowed him to dive very quickly before pulling his parachute’s ripcord, similar to a BASE jump. Here's what you need to know if you plan to go. How much does it cost? Well, that depends. Are you an EAA member? Adult member daily tickets are $34. If you want to show up just on Sunday, it's going to cost you $19, or you could make a week of it for $125. Nonmember rates start at $24 for Sunday only or $49 a day. Veterans or active-duty military can get in for $36 a day or $24 on Sunday. Student members, ages 6-18, can get in for $22 a day (except Sunday, when it's $10) or $63 for the week. Englewood, Colo. | 12 Jul 2018 | By Boeing Boeing, through its subsidiary Jeppesen, today announced that it will randomly select four winners to take to the skies with the AeroShell Aerobatic Team during the 2018 EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisc. Two winners will be selected from social media posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram that include #FlyWithJepp and #OSH18 tags. The other two winners will be drawn from in-person entries accepted at the Boeing booth at the show. Contestants may enter now through noon, Central time on Thurs., July 26. Jeppesen will contact the winners on via the social media platform or in-person form used to enter the contest. Each winner will have 30 minutes to respond and provide an email address and cell phone contact number to confirm their participation. The Robinson R44 helicopter had been flying south to Wittman Regional Airport when it turned northwest along the Fox River, ran into power lines over the river at 12:29 p.m. and dropped into the water, according to a preliminary report the National Transportation Safety Board released Monday.
