By: KDKA-TV News Staff PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Better Business Bureau says scammers are taking advantage of the pandemic, especially phone scammers who are pretending to be someone they are not. The BBB says they have seen an uptick in imposter scams in western Pennsylvania. This is where the scammer pretends to be a friend, a family member or someone calling from a government agency. Scammers are even pretending they can sign people up for the COVID-19 funeral assistance program . Here are some three tips to avoid scams: Never give out your social security number or Medicare number. A real government agency won’t ask you to pay a processing fee, especially not through gift cards. Multiple Anti-Trump Lawmakers Spend Thousands in Campaign Cash on Security Services
Multiple anti-Trump lawmakers are spending campaign donations on various security services, amounts that have soared over the past several months since the election, according to their Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings. According to the FEC filings, seven lawmakers have spent tens of thousands on private security companies. Punchbowl News reported some high-profile Democrats and a small number of Republicans, who voted to impeach the former president, have “shelled out piles of cash.” Some lawmakers went as far as to tell Punchbowl lawmakers have seen a “flood of death threats after opposing Trump, and feared for their own safety and the welfare of their families and staff.” Republican Sen. Denver Police Search For 4 Suspects Wanted In Shooting, Carjacking In Mousetrap
DENVER (CBS4) – Police in Denver are searching for four suspects wanted in connection with a carjacking and an attempted carjacking in the Mousetrap. Police say that it started on the eastbound Interstate 70 ramp to southbound Interstate 25 when a stolen car ended up in a retention pond off the road on Friday afternoon. (credit: CBS) The suspects, two men and two women, got out of the vehicle, a black sedan reported stolen in Adams County, and then tried to carjack another vehicle, a white Lexus. The suspects shot out a window of the Lexus. The driver was not hurt aside from the shattering glass.
