Diplomatic representatives of the People’s Republic of China lectured the U.S. administration about America’s “long history of killing blacks” during the first bilateral meeting between the two nations in Joe Biden’s presidency in Anchorage, Alaska. Earlier in the day, White House Press Secretary Jennifer Psaki said that the U.S. expected a “frank” conversation in which the administration would raise concerns about China’s abuses of human rights and suppression of democracy in Hong Kong. But according to Jennifer Jacobs, the senior White House reported for Bloomberg News, China responded in kind. “Top Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi says the US has deeply rooted human rights problems—long history of killing of Blacks—and urges US to do better on human rights issues,” she reported. Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi rebuked U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan during a meeting in Anchorage, Alaska, on Thursday, citing the Black Lives Matter movement on U.S. human rights abuses. The summit was the first bilateral meeting between the two countries under President Joe Biden, who has traditionally been soft on Beijing, and has struggled to balance a desire to break with Trump’s tough policies with the need for a strong stance. Ahead of the meeting, the White House boasted that it had successfully insisted that the summit happen on home soil. Press Secretary Jennifer Psaki also promised earlier Thursday that the U.S. would bring up concerns about human rights in China. (CNN) On Friday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Atlanta to confront the racial hatred that is forcing millions of people of Asian descent to live in daily fear. The trip comes on the heels of Tuesday's carnage -- in which a White man in Atlanta killed eight people, including six Asian women. Though the motive has not yet been established, this shooting spree follows a pattern of increasing violence against Asian Americans, particularly women and elders.
