"We’ve kind of done it different ways as far as traffic and tips and just some good plays along the way," Pavelski said. "It’s clicking. It’s good to see when the puck’s going in. You’ve just got to stay with it. You can’t get too cute with it." … [Read more...] about Stars tie NHL power-play record in 3-2 win over Predators

2 in 5 Americans live where COVID-19 strains hospital ICUs
Hospitals say they are upholding high standards for patient care, but experts say surges compromise many normal medical practices. Overwhelmed hospitals might be forced to mobilize makeshift ICUs and staff them with personnel without any experience in critical care. They might run out of sedatives, antibiotics, IVs or other supplies they rely on to keep patients calm and comfortable while on ventilators. … [Read more...] about 2 in 5 Americans live where COVID-19 strains hospital ICUs
Japan Wants to Throw COVID-19 Patients in Jail If They Refuse to Go to the Hospital
Many hospitals in Tokyo, where new coronavirus case numbers have numbered over 1,000 for nine straight days, are refusing to admit patients. If you test positive for COVID-19 and fail to get into a hospital, then do you just wind up in jail? One wonders if the administration of Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga would just prefer people die behind bars rather than at home; it would make disposing of the bodies so much faster. The current legislation also adds that individuals who do not cooperate with the virus-tracing investigations of public health officials or tell lies to them, could be fined up 500,000 yen ($4,800). Japan Makes Saving Face a Priority Over Saving Lives
As compared to the number of positive cases and hospitalizations in the United States and Europe, the number of reported COVID-19 cases in Japan remains relatively low. The Japanese Government’s decision to not test broadly makes it difficult to accurately assess the COVID-19 prevalence rate. While we have confidence in Japan’s health care system today, we believe a significant increase in COVID-19 cases makes it difficult to predict how the system will be functioning in the coming weeks. In the event of a spike in cases, U.S. citizens with pre-existing medical conditions may not be able to receive the medical care they have grown accustomed to in Japan prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. … [Read more...] about Japan Makes Saving Face a Priority Over Saving Lives
