The dino danger returns in "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom". But we're in 2018 now, baby, and if you think you can escape the chaos surrounding the White House even in a science fiction movie about weaponized dinosaurs, you're wrong. In its opening weekend, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom took in an impressive $150 million domestically, which, in the world of the film, could have been used to purchase a handful of actual living dinosaurs. Lindsey Bahr The Associated Press Published 12:05 p.m. UTC Jun 4, 2018 LOS ANGELES — Solo: A Star Wars Story is losing momentum quickly at the box office, even with a relatively quiet weekend free of any new blockbuster competition. After an underwhelming launch, the space saga fell 65% in its second weekend with $29.3 million from North American theaters, according to studio estimates released Sunday. The 65% drop is one of the highest in recent Star Wars history, although it is less steep than the second week fall of the franchise's last film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which slid 67.5% in its second weekend this past December — but that was after … [Read more...] about ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ takes a hard fall, but still tops box office with $29.3M
Deadpool and his foul-mouthed crew of misfits and malcontents have taken down the Avengers. Fox's "Deadpool 2" brought in $125 million according to studio estimates Sunday and ended the three-week reign of Disney's "Avengers: Infinity War" at the top of the North American box office. "Deadpool 2" fell somewhat short of the $130 million the studio predicted and the $132.4 million that its predecessor earned two years ago. But the total still made for the second-highest opening weekend ever for an R-rated movie, and signaled that R-rated superhero films could become franchises and not just one-off successes. The Avengers are hardly hurting. Disney and Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War" brought in an estimated $29 million in North America for a four-week domestic take of nearly $600 million. … [Read more...] about ‘Deadpool 2’ tops box office with $125 million
