LONDON (AP) — Britain's Prince Andrew says an Oct. 12 wedding date has been set for his younger daughter, Princess Eugenie. Andrew, the third child of Queen Elizabeth II, announced the date Friday on his official Twitter account. Eugenie, the 27-year-old daughter of Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, will marry Jack Brooksbank at St. George's Chapel in Windsor. Eugenie's cousin Prince Harry and his American fiancee Meghan Markle will marry at the same chapel on May 19. Eugenie, one of the queen's granddaughters, is eighth in line to the British throne. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set royal wedding date: May 19

Prince Harry and his American actress fiancée, Meghan Markle, have set their wedding date: May 19, 2018."Today's announcement follows earlier confirmation of the month of the wedding and its location at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle," Kensington Palace noted in its announcement Friday morning.Windsor, a 900-year-old castle located about 30 minutes west of London, is the queen's favored weekend residence and one of the major royal tourist destinations in the U.K. It has been described as being a "very special place" to Harry and Meghan, who have visited regularly during their year-and-a-half relationship."Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are delighted that the beautiful grounds of Windsor Castle will be where they begin their lives together as a married couple," Kensington Palace press secretary Jason Knauf said Nov. 28, when they announced it as their wedding venue, one day after going public with the engagement.St. George's, a chapel essentially in name only, is a 14th-century cathedral that can accommodate up to 800 guests. Often the site of royal baptisms and burials, it hosted the intimate 2005 prayer ceremony that marked the two-part wedding of Harry's father, Prince Charles, to his second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, now the Duchess of Cornwall. It holds a little less than half the capacity of Westminster Abbey, the traditional royal wedding venue that hosted the nuptials of Harry's older brother, Prince William and Duchess Kate in April 2011.The venue was available to Harry and Meghan, following a 2002 rule change allowing divorced people to remarry within the Church of England. But by virtue of its smaller size and location outside the city, St. George's will afford them the lower-profile wedding they seem to prefer. Kauf noted that Harry and Meghan are "leading the planning" in every aspect of wedding planning."They also want the day to be shaped so as to allow members of the public to feel part of the Continue Reading

One of two Texas sisters fatally shot by their mom had wedding date planned for three days after shooting

A 22-year-old Texas woman gunned down by her own mother was set to marry her fiancé on Monday, according to reports. Taylor Sheats and her 17-year-old sister Madison died after the Friday evening shooting in a Houston suburb that stemmed from an argument during a family meeting, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office. Deputies had received 14 calls to investigate at the Katy home since 2012. A police officer fatally shot the mother, 42-year-old Christy Sheats, around 5 p.m. on Friday after arriving to the family’s subdivision to find Sheats shooting at one of her daughters in the street, investigators said. The elder daughter and her longtime boyfriend had set their wedding date for Monday, according to a Facebook post from his relative cited by KTRK-TV. “Y'all were a part of our family and that will never change,” the relative wrote. “The greatest in-laws anyone could ever have, and the sweetest, most wholesome and caring girls in my life. I look up to ya'll so much. Y'all were a light in the midst of this crazy world. We will all love you two until the end of time.” Investigators released more information Monday about what led to the shooting and the circumstances surrounding it. Representatives for the sheriff’s office have said some previous calls to the home included security alarm issues. Yet spokeswoman Caitilin Espinosa told People magazine that others involved “previous altercations” related to Christy Sheats’ “mental crisis.” Officials in the sheriff’s office later said they could not discuss the other calls due to legal restrictions from the county attorney’s office. The mother had posted on Facebook in the months leading up to the shooting about her support for gun ownership rights and how much she loved her daughters. The mom called the meeting Friday with her two daughters Continue Reading

‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’ is a raunchy Zac Efron comedy worth committing to

Zac Efron is taking another crack at raunchy R-rated comedy in "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates," a movie where the title doubles as the plot. Loosely based on the viral ad for wedding dates posted on Craigslist by real-life brothers Dave and Mike Stangle (played by Efron and "Pitch Perfect" star Adam Devine), the film takes a simple idea and expands it into a full-blown high-concept comedy. Not surprisingly, it's written by the duo behind "Neighbors" who helped Efron transition his "High School Musical" fame into comedy two years ago. For the movie, the Stangles are offering an all-expenses-paid trip to their younger sister's wedding in Hawaii, getting thousands of replies from eager women (and at least one man). Drunken party girls Alice (Anna Kendrick) and Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza) decide they can win it by posing as nice girls and persuading the guys to pick them… and it works! At first, all four characters are incredibly annoying, essentially yelling and swearing and being obnoxious, so it's natural to wonder if it's possible to deal with them for a whole movie. There's a good reason why R-rated comedies like "Wedding Crashers" and "Bridesmaids" have been so popular and that's because weddings, as a rule, tend to be prone to hilarious chaos. That may be why the movie only really starts to get going when the foursome arrives in Hawaii. Although it's Mike and Dave's names in the title, this movie really is a brilliant showcase for Kendrick and Plaza, giving them a chance to make up for several bad comedies they've made this year. There's a certain level of genius and skill in the way Plaza plays wild girl Tatiana as she pretends to be shy and demure, but also remains aggressive enough to lead Mike on and get her way. Kendrick's Alice is trying to get over being left at the altar, and once at the wedding, the ceremony sets off all her anxieties. Unlike Tatiana, she's actually attracted to Dave… maybe he looks like Efron when he Continue Reading

Royal wedding date set for Prince William and Kate Middleton, couple to tie knot on April 29

Prince William and Kate Middleton will tie the knot on April 29, the royal family announced Tuesday. Exactly one week after the beaming couple announced they got engaged while on vacation in Kenya, plans for their big day were going full steam ahead. The ceremony will take place in London's Westminster Abbey and the day will be marked by a public holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with Scotland expected to follow suit. The venue was chosen by Prince William and his bride for its "staggering beauty" but will also hold extra poignancy for the heir to the throne who walked solemnly behind Princess Diana's coffin as her body was led there for her funeral in 1997. William proposed to his long-term girlfriend with Princess Diana's sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring. "The venue has long associations with the royal family. It is in many ways the royal family's church - and, of course, with Prince William personally," the prince's private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton said. "For Miss Middleton, the associations she has with the abbey are quite simply the same as any British person would have for such a glorious and holy place." Now that the date has been decided, the couple were said to be hard at work formalizing all the details: from the dress and cake to the guest-list and honeymoon. "They are very much in charge of the arrangements for the big day," Lowther-Pinkerton added. "They're giving us and the household office very firm direction indeed.""I have never seen two happier people," he said."They're on cloud nine, like any other newly engaged couple."The royal family and the Middletons will pay for the ceremony and honeymoon and UK taxpayers will foot the bill for the extra security which will be in place on the day.Westminster Abbey can hold up to 2,000 guests, but tens of thousands more are expected to flock to the venue to savor and celebrate the occasion."William and Kate are very keen that it should be a Continue Reading

Prince William & Kate Middleton royal wedding date, April 29, shared by Adolf Hitler, Jon Bon Jovi

Prince William and Kate Middleton have set April 29 for their royal wedding. While the eyes of the world will be upon the handsome couple on their joyous day at Westminster Abby, history shows that the date will not be their own. April 29 just also happens to be the day Adolf Hitler wed Eva Braun. As Nazi Germany collapsed during the final days of World War II, the evil dictator and his mistress are believed to have tied the knot in a bunker on April 29, 1945, just days before killing themselves. Another not-so-successful pair, Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson, were wed on that day in 1988. The once envied celebrity union ended in a bitter divorce five years later that was splattered across supermarket tabloids for months. Paula Abdul married Emilio Estevez on that day as well in 1992. They were divorced two years later. However, there were some lasting bonds that were formed on April 29. Jon Bon Jovi married high school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley in 1989, and actor Dan Aykroyd married blonde beauty Donna Dixon in 1983. ABC newswoman Diane Sawyer wed director Mike Nicols on that day as well in 1988. All three couples remain together to this day. Jerry Seinfeld, Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman and "Star Trek: Voyager"'s Kate Mulgrew were born on April 29. The zipper was patented by Swedish engineer Gideon Sundback in 1913, Aretha Franklin released her hit single, "Respect," in 1967 and the war in Vietnam officially ended in 1975. Playmate Kendra Wilkinson sets wedding date

Playmate Kendra Wilkinson has set a date to walk down the aisle. Hugh Hefner’s ex-gal pal will marry NFL player Hank Baskett on June 27, 2009 at the Playboy Mansion, People.com reports. The "Girl Next Door" star, 23, only recently moved out of the Mansion after ending her relationship with Hefner, 82. She says she planned the wedding date around Baskett’s football season with the Philadephia Eagles. "I'm waiting for him to come out here and help me plan … I'm ready to just get married," she said. Initial reports stated that Hef would escort Wilkinson down the aisle, which the Playboy mogul said he’d be happy to do. "I have given her my blessing and will be giving her away at a very special wedding ceremony at the Playboy Mansion," he said in November. But now Wilkinson may be having second thoughts about an ex-beau handing her off to her husband-to-be. "I think so, but I don’t know yet," she said of the plan. Just married for less: Make a plan to cut your wedding budget

Cinderella had a fairy godmother; you don’t. So while a wedding may be a wish your heart makes, your wallet has to follow through. Here’s what to keep in mind. Who’s paying? Although tradition dictates that the parents of the bride foot the bills, the rules have changed. As the marrying age has risen steadily (in 1964, the average bride was 21 years old; in 2007, she was 27 years old), many more established couples are paying for the event themselves. In 2007, almost 80% of couples contributed to the cost of their wedding, according to the Wedding Report. Unless Mom and Dad have insisted on paying since your childhood — no ifs, ands or buts — you may have some difficult conversations ahead if you need or want financial help. After you and your fiancé have discussed what kind of wedding you want, you both should ask your parents whether they are interested in contributing. The key is to get them to be specific about their gift — even giving you a dollar amount — without making them feel awkward. Be honest and gracious during the conversation, and explain that you don’t want them to stretch their savings-account balance so much that they feel uncomfortable. What are you willing to spend? There’s a reason traditional wedding vows include the phrase “for richer, for poorer” — couples don’t always see eye to eye on finances. If you’re thinking of blowing your nest egg on your wedding but your groom wants to use his savings for a down payment on a home, you’ll need to compromise. Use these guidelines: Sit down together, and each of you write out your own wish list of every single thing you would like to include in the wedding. Next, implement the three-strikes rule. In this highly scientific process, you’re allowed to strike three of his ideas without giving a reason, and he’s allowed to do the same with three of yours. For everything else, you must Continue Reading

Lucky digits: 8/8/08 next big wedding date

Thinking of getting married on Aug. 8, 2008? Scratch the Tribeca Rooftop, the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers and the Central Park Boathouse off your list - they're fully booked. If you're dreaming of an 8/8/08 reception at the Water Club on the East River, you better move quickly. "We've had a lot of interest in that date," said Robin Henderson, catering sales manager at the Manhattan restaurant. Fresh off the 7/7/07 wedding bonanza, 8/8/08 is shaping up as the next must-have, I-do date. While it's still relatively early, reception halls, restaurants, caterers and photographers are booking up. Couples are signing on, even though the triple eights fall on a Friday, a less desirable day for walking down the aisle. Chinese brides and grooms are leading the pack. The number eight is considered especially lucky in Chinese culture because the pronunciation of the number eight sounds like the word for prosperity. Repeat it three times and you increase your luck. The Summer Olympics in Beijing will begin on 8/8/08 - at 8:08:08 p.m. Chris Chen, CEO of Dynasty Weddings, a wedding planner on the Lower East Side who caters to Chinese couples, has fielded 10 inquiries for the date so far. "We like to do three weddings max a day, but we might end up doing four to five because of this hot date," Chen said. May Chan, 26, and Eddie Lau, 27, who both live in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and are first-generation Americans, have already booked the Ocean Jewel Seafood Restaurant in Flushing, Queens, for an 8/8/08 wedding reception. "Who doesn't want it?" Chan said of the lucky date. "I wanted to grab it early because of the 7/7/07 craze." Chan, a manager in a surgical center, and Lau, an officer in the NYPD, asked Chan's uncle in Hong Kong to check out the date on the Chinese lunar calender. While 8/8/08 falls during the Chinese Halloween month - deemed unlucky by some - "my uncle said the date was okay," Chan said. It's not just Chinese couples jumping on the Continue Reading

Conrad Hilton’s upcoming sentencing date set for same day as sister Nicky Hilton’s wedding

Talk about an awkward double-booking. Paris Hilton's parents are pleading with a federal judge to change an upcoming sentencing date for son Conrad Hilton because it's the same day — July 10 — that daughter Nicky Hilton is set to marry British banking scion James Rothschild in Europe. "Mr. and Mrs. Rick and Kathy Hilton, parents of defendant Conrad Hughes Hilton, will be overseas to host the wedding of their (younger) daughter on Friday, July 10, 2015," lawyer Robert Shapiro said in a recent filing for the parents obtained by the Daily News. Shapiro asked the judge to move the sentencing to June 16 so the busy parents can be present when Conrad learns his punishment for his abusive meltdown on a flight from London to Los Angeles last summer. "Mr. and Mrs. Hilton, parents of defendant Conrad Hilton Hughes, cannot be present for their son's sentencing unless the request to change the sentencing date is granted," he wrote. Conrad, 21, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in March for his epic explosion on the British Airways flight July 31. Prosecutors said an enraged Hilton threw tantrum after tantrum during the 10-hour trip, shouting expletives, ignoring orders and turning physically combative when crew members tried to restrain him. "I will f---ing own anyone on this flight. They are f---ing peasants," he yelled, according to an affidavit written by an FBI agent. "I will f---ing bury you," he said. At one point, the hotel heir grabbed a crew member's shirt and name badge stating, "I could get you all fired in five minutes. I know your boss!" the affidavit said. "My father will pay this out, he has done it before. Dad paid $300,000 last time," he allegedly said. Conrad was restrained and handcuffed by the flight attendants and later told the court he checked into a rehab facility and was medicated for the "psychotic breakdown." He faces up to six months in jail, Continue Reading
