As the NBA announces its plans to investigate allegations made Thursday by G-league player and NBA veteran Jeremy Lin that he was called an anti-Asian slur “on the court,” Lin has not publicly named the player or the game where the alleged incident happened. Lin used his Facebook page, which has 3.5 million followers, to post a long statement on anti-Asian racism in America. In his post, Lin spoke for all Asian-Americans, saying, “We are tired of Asian American kids growing up and being asked where they’re REALLY from, of having our eyes mocked, of being objectified as exotic or being told we’re inherently unattractive.” Taiwanese-American Lin, who is a forward for the Santa Cruz Warriors, also referred to alleged Asian bias in sports in his post, saying, “I want better for the next generation of Asian American athletes than to have to work so hard to just be ‘deceptively athletic,'” and added, “Being a 9 year NBA veteran doesn’t protect me from being called ‘coronavirus’ on … [Read more...] about NBA’s Jeremy Lin Refuses to Name Player Who Allegedly Called Him ‘Coronavirus’

Warriors’ Steve Kerr After Mass Shootings: ‘How Does Mitch McConnell Sleep at Night?’
In the wake of two mass shootings in less than a day, outspoken Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr jumped to his Twitter account to go on the attack against the Second Amendment and gun violence. As news about the shootings emerged, Kerr mostly took to retweeting others. But in some of those re-tweets, the NBA coach added his own comments. For instance, on Saturday he noted that we have a “white supremacist problem” in the U.S.A. This pretty much sums it up. https://t.co/J823pOZuDD — Steve Kerr (@SteveKerr) August 4, 2019 He also uncorked a pair of tweets attacking Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell: How does Mitch McConnell sleep at night? https://t.co/ZJSh1CxJz8 — Steve Kerr (@SteveKerr) August 4, 2019 But apparently not 'sickening' enough to actually do anything about it, huh Mitch? https://t.co/DbHSxgKUIi — Steve Kerr (@SteveKerr) August 5, 2019 But Kerr also retweeted a lot of anti-gun tweets without adding his own … [Read more...] about Warriors’ Steve Kerr After Mass Shootings: ‘How Does Mitch McConnell Sleep at Night?’
Nuggets Journal: Five players Denver should target ahead of March trade deadline
When Jamal Murray disclosed his feelings about the Nuggets’ interior defense in the aftermath of their chaotic loss to Washington on Thursday night, it was hard not to view it as a cry for help. “We lack a presence in the middle that can just deter layups,” he said. “I’m talking about drill layups. So that’s kind of frustrating.” Washington had 30 points in the paint in the second half alone, which was further evidence of an alarming trend. Inside of five feet, Nuggets opponents are converting nearly 67% of their shot attempts – the worst defensive mark in the league. Less than a month from the March 25 trade deadline, was Murray signaling to president of basketball operations Tim Connelly that he should be shopping for a bruiser? That, despite Nikola Jokic’s brilliance, he needed someone with more hops? In the immediate aftermath of their disastrous fourth-quarter breakdown, was Murray forgetting that both Paul Millsap (knee) and JaMychal Green (shoulder) were on the shelf … [Read more...] about Nuggets Journal: Five players Denver should target ahead of March trade deadline
