Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal) - The Walking Dead - Season 2, Episode 12 - Photo Credit: Gene Page/AMC ‘The Walking Dead’ is bringing back a key character from its early days. According to multiple reports, actor Jon Bernthal will return in at least one episode of Season 9, likely to reprise his role as Shane. TV Line was the first to report that the star would be returning to the show despite his character being killed off at the end of Season 2. Neither reps for Bernthal nor AMC immediately responded to Fox News’ request for comment. The news comes after multiple people noticed the actor hanging around on the Atlanta set with the cast. The exact nature of his role remains a mystery as those familiar with the series will remember that Shane was stabbed to death by Andrew Lincoln’s character, Rick Grimes, in the Season 2 finale. When his corpse reanimated, as corpses are wont to do in the series, he was put down by Carl Grimes. His return in Season 9 would … [Read more...] about ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 9 reportedly bringing back Jon Bernthal’s Shane
Walking dead season 2
"The Walking Dead" has been in a zombie-like state, creatively speaking, so today's story from the Hollywood Reporter that former regular Jon Bernthal will appear in the upcoming Season 9 couldn't be more welcome. It's already been announced that Andrew Lincoln, whose Rick Grimes character has been at the core of "The Walking Dead" since it started, is leaving in Season 9. And we know that Bernthal's character, Shane Walsh, ended up dead -- real dead, since Rick's son, Carl, killed Shane after he died, then came back as a walker in Season 2. But as others have noted, "The Walking Dead" has a habit of playing around with time. When the series started, Rick and Shane were best friends, and banded together to fight the walker invasion. Things got messy, though, when we learned that while Rick had been thought dead, his wife, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Shane had comforted each other. Yeah, that way. Which left the question of who's the father of Judith awkwardly unresolved. … [Read more...] about Yay! Jon Bernthal will return as Shane in ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 9
Is this a cadaver we see before us? Actually, it was a coach-load of the rotters: all eager to feast on the brains – and sundry other body parts – of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Gabriel (Seth Gilliam). After enough padding to stock a mattress factory, The Walking Dead was finally returning to the only storyline in season eight that anyone cares about – the awkward meet-cute between Saviour boss and priest in a caravan besieged by walkers. When we last checked in, Negan and Gabriel – all going well we will soon be collectively referring to them as “Nabriel” – were sheltering from a tide of undead unleashed by Rick and the gang in their assault on Negan’s Sanctuary. This week the action picked up more or less immediately following Negan’s ice-breaking monologue about the importance of Gabriel putting on his brown trousers (Negan used a more colourful term). In the stygian gloom of the … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead, season 8, episode 5, The Big Scary U recap: Negan finally gets a tear-jerking back story

Warning: spoilers follow The first episode of The Walking Dead season eight was also the zombie caper's 100th instalment, and producer Greg Nicotero promised the occasion would be marked with an especially memorable hour of post-apocalyptic fun and mayhem. He was partly true to this word, with the premiere significantly ratcheting up the pace after a dreary seventh series. There were several bloody Easter eggs, too, that harked back to the show’s early years. But fans may nonetheless quibble with star Andrew Lincoln’s assertion that the Walking Dead has recovered its “mojo” (though at least he was willing to acknowledge said mojo had gone missing). The siege of Negan's Sanctuary compound was grippingly staged and it was a thrill, in particular, to see Daryl (Norman Reedus) reunited with his motorbike and leading a walker horde to the gates of the Saviour fortress. However, the mechanics of Rick and company's plan were hazily outlined (at best) … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead, season 8, episode 1 recap: is it the end for Negan?
