MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - Twelve of Europe's top football clubs launched a breakaway Super League on Sunday, in what is certain to be a bitter battle for control of the game and its lucrative revenue. The move sets up a rival to UEFA's established Champions League competition and was condemned by football authorities and political leaders. Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus are among the leading members of the new league, but UEFA has threatened to ban them from domestic and international competition and vowed to fight the move. French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson both issued statements condemning the breakaway and supporting UEFA's position. Along with United, English Premier League clubs Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have signed up to the plans. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid from Spain join Real. AC Milan and Inter Milan make up the trio from Italy along with Juventus. The Super League said … [Read more...] about 12 of Europe’s Top Football Clubs Form Breakaway League, Amid Criticism

Exclusive: Republican Attorneys General Plan to Fight ‘Insane’ Court-Packing Battle
Republican attorneys general (AGs) across the country are prepared to fight the recently introduced court-packing legislation, as indicated by their vocal statements of opposition to it, endorsements of the Keep Nine amendment, and vows to explore legal routes to challenge the legislation. In interviews with Breitbart News, several AGs expressed they were firmly against the court-packing bill, unveiled Thursday as the Judiciary Act of 2021 by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), and other Democrats. “This is an effort for the Democrats to try to add numbers to the Court to be able to validate the most liberal agenda that we’ve seen out of Congress in clearly my lifetime,” Alabama AG Steve Marshall told Breitbart News. Missouri AG Eric Schmitt called it “a total affront to our Republic” and “counterintuitive to the Founders’ vision.” Talk of court packing first resurfaced last fall amid the swift confirmation process of Justice Amy Coney Barrett, the third justice … [Read more...] about Exclusive: Republican Attorneys General Plan to Fight ‘Insane’ Court-Packing Battle
Exclusive — Ron DeSantis: Defunding the Police Is Effectively ‘Off the Table’ in Florida
WINTER HAVEN, Florida — Defunding law enforcement is effectively “off the table” in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) told Breitbart News on Monday, shortly after signing the state’s anti-riot legislation into law. DeSantis signed HB1, known as the “anti-riot” bill, on Monday following the state Senate’s passage last week. The law, DeSantis told Breitbart News, demonstrates a significant contrast between the way blue areas and red areas address these issues of unrest as Democrat-run cities experience yet another bout of riots in the streets. “The more blue an area is, the worse it’s governed. I mean it’s just a disaster what we’ve seen. It’s always been the case kind of in my lifetime, but I think in the last year, it’s been exacerbated between COVID lockdowns and the rioting,” DeSantis told Breitbart News, explaining that blue area leaders have “totally dropped the ball.” “If you don’t stand up for law enforcement, you are going to have more crimes,” he said, noting that, in … [Read more...] about Exclusive — Ron DeSantis: Defunding the Police Is Effectively ‘Off the Table’ in Florida

Daunte Wright shooting: Is progressive push putting due process in jeopardy?
close Video Former detective on Daunte Wright case: Death very possibly 'caused by negligence' of police officer Former D.C. homicide detective Ted Williams explains why the charges against former police officer Kim Potter are 'right and appropriate.' The right to due process – protected under the U.S. Constitution – has transformed into a point of contention in the Minnesota city of Brooklyn Center after former police officer Kim Potter fatally shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop, evoking several consecutive nights of civil unrest that has spilled into Minneapolis . Brooklyn Center City Manager Curt Boganey was fired for arguing at a press conference that the officer should receive due process, and the police chief, Tim Gannon, offered his resignation after publicly suggesting the same. "All employees working for the city of Brooklyn Center are entitled to due process with respect to discipline," Boganey said at the press … [Read more...] about Daunte Wright shooting: Is progressive push putting due process in jeopardy?
