Culture Brands associated with actor Morgan Freeman have begun to pull advertisements featuring his voice amid a series of sexual harassment allegations that surfaced Thursday. Freeman is among the biggest A-list talents in Hollywood. At this time, eight women have accused the 80-year-old of engaging in a "pattern of inappropriate behavior," according to the original CNN report. The apparent victims claimed the incidents occurred on film sets, in interviews and at Revelations Entertainment—his independent movie production company. The Academy Award winner issued an apology to the women who came forward with their alleged accounts. "Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy," Freeman said in a statement issued to Variety Thursday. As fathers who have lived through their children’s adolescent years, we are keenly aware of the challenges young people face as they transition to adulthood. Our children were fortunate: They had connections to supportive adults, to financial assistance, to mentors and to the social capital they needed to navigate this challenging time. And the support they received didn’t stop the day they turned 18. The same cannot be said for the more than 43,000 Maine children currently living in poverty. Because of that, these kids – 17 percent of the youth population of Maine – are more likely than children like ours to experience homelessness or involvement in Maine’s foster care and juvenile justice systems. Once involved in these systems, youth are less and less likely to live up to their full potential. ABOUT THE AUTHORS George J. Growing up in Denver, he had dreams of becoming a hip-hop star; he practiced beatboxing and participated in rap battles throughout middle school and high school. Kelly Clarkson was a brand-new coach on "The Voice" this year — but that didn't stop her from making a bold proclamation in the very first episode of the season in February, when she made a bid for contestant Brynn Cartelli. "I can win with you," Clarkson said to Cartelli, the teenage pop-soul phenom who stunned everyone in the blind audition by belting out Labrinth and Emeli Sande's "Beneath Your Beautiful." Blake Shelton also wanted Cartelli on his team, and the two coaches started bickering. (Shelton: "Kelly has absolutely no experience on this show whatsoever." Clarkson: "I had enough experience that he had me mentor his team on the second season!") Eventually, Cartelli chose Clarkson, one of her idols growing up. It paid off in a big way, as Clarkson proved prophetic: On Tuesday night, Cartelli, a high school freshman from Massachusetts, was crowned champion of "The Voice" Season 14, winning $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group. As the show's youngest … [Read more...] about Brynn Cartelli’s win could be a game-changer for ‘The Voice’
