The Biden administration believes the American government alone can effectively vet U.S. visa applicants from terrorist-linked countries covered by former President Donald Trump’s travel ban, Breitbart News learned from the State Department Tuesday. That same day, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before a Senate panel that the U.S. relies heavily on information provided by the origin countries of individuals trying to enter America to vet them for criminal and terrorist ties effectively. Wray conceded that America could not count on most countries listed on Trump’s travel ban to provide accurate information, if any, on potential travelers. Hours after taking office on January 20, President Joe Biden repealed Trump’s travel ban on several nations, including seven predominantly Muslim countries in the Middle East and Africa. To justify the bans, Trump cited concerns about foreign terrorist entry to the U.S. and American authorities’ ability to effectively screen … [Read more...] about State Dept: Biden Government Alone to Vet U.S. Visa Seekers from Terror Exporting Countries Trump Banned

A fight is brewing over Myanmar’s seat at the United Nations

Can anyone keep hackers out? Nope, and that’s not a problem
As cyber investigators continue to examine the SolarWinds attack, a more complicated picture of what actually happened has begun to emerge. The Acting Director of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Brandon Wales, said that federal investigators had found Russian intelligence agents alleged to have been behind the SolarWinds hack actually used a variety of techniques well beyond the eponymous compromised software. If the U.S. government, which dedicates more time, energy, and funds to cyber defenses than any other regime on the planet, can be so thoroughly penetrated by … [Read more...] about Can anyone keep hackers out? Will Biden’s Immigration Policies Blunt Canada’s Tech Edge?
HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA - As the United States loosens its immigration policies under President Joe Biden, leaders of Canada’s thriving tech sector may find they have to work a little harder to attract top international talent. “The effect of the Biden administration is not seen as yet,” says Toronto-based financial services executive Soumya Ghosh. Nevertheless, Canadian tech firms have been clear beneficiaries of America’s restrictive immigration policies under former President Donald Trump, finding themselves able to hire highly skilled workers from around the world who might otherwise have headed for jobs in the United States. The influx of skilled workers helped to make Toronto the fastest-growing center for technology jobs in North America in recent years, according to a January 2020 report by the U.S. business analysis firm CBRE, a global service and investment firm. Canada’s Pacific coast city of Vancouver also made the top five, along with San Francisco, New York and … [Read more...] about Will Biden’s Immigration Policies Blunt Canada’s Tech Edge?
