MU sophomore midfielder Zoe Cross tore her ACL during Missouri soccer’s game on Sunday against Texas Christian, Cross announced in a tweet linking to a private Instagram post. Given that ACL injuries typically require surgery and several months of recovery, Cross is likely to be out for the rest of the season. The star forward for the United States led a sequence from midfield where she beat at least five defenders in one-on-one battles before firing inside the near post to give the Americans a 1-0 lead. Check out the ridiculous video from the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team Twitter account. Smith went ahead and added a tidy finish for a second goal as the U.S. rolled to a 6-0 win. It was nearly a must-win game for the Americans after losing the first game of the group stage 1-0 to Japan and Thursday's game was the second of three in the group stage of the tournament being held in France. Smith is a fast-rising star in the U.S. National Team system.
