8:48 a.m. “It will be months” before all can get shots, White House says: More than 47 million coronavirus vaccine doses have been delivered to states nationwide, with 24 million shots so far administered, Andy Slavitt, a senior adviser to the White House COVID-19 Response Team told a news briefing Wednesday. White House officials said some of the vaccine, rather than being administered, is being held in inventory by states for required second doses after people get their first shots. The Biden team is working to understand where the vaccine supplies are “on any given day,” a task hindered by a delay in data reporting, they said.
