Donald Trump has been wrong about nearly everything when it comes to the FBI—wrong about its political nature, wrong about its corruption, wrong about its leadership—but it turns out that he gets at least two things right about the bureau: Axiosreported Sunday that the president thinks its headquarters, the aging J. Edgar Hoover Building, across Pennsylvania Avenue from Trump’s own hotel, is “terrible.” “Honestly, I think it’s one of the ugliest buildings in the city,” Trump has evidently told at least one source.Story Continued Below He’s certainly correct about that. The unwelcoming and obsolete Brutalist monstrosity of the Hoover Building has no place in a society that prizes transparency and accountability from its law enforcement. WOMEN 06/27/2018 01:31 pm ET The U.S. is the only Western country to make the Thomson Reuters Foundation's list. By Alanna Vagianos A new list of the top 10 most dangerous countries for women includes a few surprising places. The Thomson Reuters Foundation this week published its results of a survey of 550 global experts on women’s issues conducted between March 26 and May 4. The experts took into account the countries that have high rates of violence against women, a lack of economic resources, health care issues and traditions that perpetuate strict gender roles. India topped the list as the most dangerous country for women right now. The country has seen an uptick in sexual violence against women in the past decade, including the 2012 fatal gang rape of a 23-year-old woman in Delhi. Dan DiMicco, the former CEO of U.S. steelmaker Nucor, said President Donald Trump is right to slap tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, especially from China. “The hard reality for most domestic manufacturers including the steel industry is that we’ve been in a trade war for 20 years,” DiMicco said on CNBC. “And now is the first time we’re standing up and saying, ‘Enough’s enough! We’re going to fight back!’” President Trump on Thursday said he will approve plans to impose 25 percent duties on steel imports and 10 percent on aluminum even as allies and some advisers objected. Investors who must have ignored one of Trump’s central campaign promises reacted negatively as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 366 points, or 1.5 percent to 24,669. “You’re going to see a lot of good things happen. You’re going to see expansion of the companies,” Trump said. “When it comes to a time when our … [Read more...] about Former Steel CEO: Trump Is Right to Hit Back at China
