Even before the Justice Department inspector general’s report on former FBI director James Comey was released on Thursday afternoon, Donald Trump initiated the inevitable tweet storm, hoping to use this development as yet another distraction from the Trump-Russia scandal. The Comey report, issued by Inspector General Michael Horowitz, examined Comey’s handling of the FBI’s Hillary Clinton email investigation and reached an obvious conclusion: Comey deviated from Justice Department and FBI procedures by publicly announcing his recommendation in July 2016 that she not be prosecuted (while still criticizing her for how she handled her email at the State Department) and by informing Congress shortly before the election that the investigation was being revived. The IG noted, “While we did not find that these decisions … [Read more...] about Trump Uses the Comey Report to Cover Up His Guilt in the Russia Scandal

Dana Rohrabacher just can’t seem to stop popping up on the fringes of the Trump-Russia scandal, and it could very well help end his decades-long political career. In the run-up to Tuesday’s primary election in California’s 48th Congressional District, Rohrabacher’s opponents—both Democrats and Republicans—have repeatedly raised the 15-term congressman’s famously cozy relationship with the Kremlin. “He’s been called Putin’s favorite congressman,” states one Democratic campaign ad targeting Rohrabacher. “Vladimir Putin has been called a murderer and a thug,” declares another. “Dana Rohrabacher is being investigated for conspiring with him.” Last November, news reports revealed that special counsel Robert Mueller’s team was looking into Rohrabacher’s pre-election meeting with … [Read more...] about Dana Rohrabacher Is All Tangled Up in the Russia Scandal. Scandals are big news, of course, but many had very little direct impact on the world beyond the corruption of some government officials. Failed policies, on the other hand, can directly wreak havoc on millions of people. That doesn’t mean scandals are unimportant. Even mild corruption can be harmful to democracy, and full-on assaults on the rule of law threaten the entire possibility of self-government. All administrations suffer policy failures of varying degrees. Few are guilty of the kinds of criminal, ethical or constitutional violations that major scandals are made of. While there’s no single best metric for assessing the size of a presidential scandal, we know the key factors. One is indictments and convictions. Another is the rank of those guilty and the proximity of the president to the crimes and abuses of power. Most … [Read more...] about Ranking Trump-Russia in the history of presidential scandals
Geraldo Blasts 'Bungling, Pink Panther' US Spies Duped By 'Shadowy Russian' OH High School Athletes Respond After Foundation Targets Their Game-Time Prayer Former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino said Democrats "forfeited all credibility" in the case of the Trump-Russia dossier and federal spying against a former Trump associate. "They haven't told the truth from day one," Bongino, a former Maryland congressional candidate, said when asked about the Nunes memo and its Democratic response. He said the Democrats are displaying hypocrisy by criticizing President Trump's withholding of some parts of the Democratic memo, after they claimed the Nunes memo should be examined for possible sensitive redactions. "Then, the [Nunes] memo came out. This is a big nothing-burger... They are covering up what I believe to be the biggest scandal in modern political history." Bongino said the facts in the case add up to a general conclusion that the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign … [Read more...] about Bongino: Dems ‘Forfeited All Credibility’ on Trump-Russia ‘Scandal’
