An Iowa school district policy allows students to spend overnight trips with the students who share their “gender identity.” The discrimination policy at Linn-Mar Community School District in Linn County, Iowa, gives students a Gender Support Plan which makes “appropriate arrangements” for students in seventh grade or older wishing to change their gender identity at school, according to the policy. Students can spend overnight school trips in rooms with whichever gender they identify with as a part of the Gender Support Plan. (RELATED: Virginia School To Provide Genderless Bathrooms For Second Graders) Students in seventh through 12th grade can customize their own Gender Support Plan by asking to meet with any school administrator, the policy states. The Biden Age Is Hitting Its Stride
Photo: Sarah Silbiger/Getty Images Last week, Democratic Representative Carolyn Maloney of the Upper East Side, chair of the powerful House Committee on Oversight and Reform, made national headlines by telling me, in the middle of a high-stakes televised debate , that she thinks Joe Biden will voluntarily be a one-term president. “I don’t believe he is running for reelection,” she said in response to my yes/no question about whether Biden ought to be a candidate in 2024. The remark drew a double take from attorney Siraj Patel, one of her fellow debaters, but it wasn’t a gaffe: When asked on CNN to clarify the remark the next morning, Maloney quasi apologized and pledged her support for the president, but reemphasized that she doesn’t believe Biden will be a candidate. Maloney’s remarks fly in the face of emphatic White House statements. “To be clear, as the president has said repeatedly, he plans to run in 2024,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted in June. … [Read more...] about The Biden Age Is Hitting Its Stride

Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 9 JOHANNESBURG (AP) — South Africa’s stance on Russia’s war in Ukraine and the adverse effects of the conflict on African countries are expected to feature in a meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and South Africa’s Minister of International Relations Naledi Pandor on Monday. Blinken is in South Africa as part of a three-nation tour of Africa including Congo and Rwanda in what is seen as a contest between Western nations and Russia to win support from African countries over the war in Ukraine. Blinken's tour follows similar trips to African countries by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and French President Emmanuel Macron. South Africa is among many African countries that have taken a neutral stance on the Ukraine war and avoided public criticism of Russia. Following his discussions with Pandor, Blinken will describe the … [Read more...] about US Secretary of State Blinken sees South African counterpart

I experienced the festival opulence of the $2,000 Outside Lands VIP pass
Anyone who has ever been to a music festival knows that using the bathroom is an annoying chore at best, and at worst, a test of how long you can hold your breath and bladder. However, on Saturday afternoon at Outside Lands , armed with my Golden Gate Club wristband, that experience was “elevated.” Instead of waiting to exhale, I breathe deeply as I cleanse my hands in the spacious lavatory trailer with mid-tier designer soap (Public Goods, if you must know). Then I spritzed myself with a facial mist that smelled like fresh sheets from a boutique hotel. A wristband that allows entry to this luxurious bathroom, as well as a host of other perks including front of stage access, costs $1,995 for one day, plus fees (general admission is $175). I was given media access to this exclusive wonderland in order to experience the grandeur, and report back to you, the reader who is likely spending that amount of money on a month’s pandemic-reduced rent in a one-bedroom San Francisco … [Read more...] about I experienced the festival opulence of the $2,000 Outside Lands VIP pass
Kevin Smith Slams Warner Bros. for Axing ‘Batgirl’ but Still Releasing ‘The Flash’: ‘That Is Baffling’
Click here to read the full article. Kevin Smith spoke out against Warner Bros.’ axing of “ Batgirl ” during the latest episode of his “Hollywood Babble-On” YouTube show. The filmmaker called it “an incredible bad look” for the studio to drop the rare comic book tentpole to be headlined by a Latina actor, especially when Warner Bros. is still moving forward on the release of its Ezra Miller-led tentpole “ The Flash .” “It’s an incredibly bad look to cancel the Latina Batgirl movie,” Smith said. “I don’t give a shit if the movie was absolute fucking dog shit – I guarantee you that it wasn’t. The two directors [Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi] who directed that movie did a couple of episodes of ‘Ms. Marvel,’ and it was a wonderful fucking show and they had more money to do ‘Batgirl’ than they had to do an episode of ‘Ms. Marvel’ and stuff.” More from Variety 'Scoob!: Holiday Haunt' Producer Reveals Score Being Recorded After Film's Axing: 'Already Paid for the … [Read more...] about Kevin Smith Slams Warner Bros. for Axing ‘Batgirl’ but Still Releasing ‘The Flash’: ‘That Is Baffling’
Pete Rose Dismisses Allegations of Sex with Minor: ‘It was 55 Years Ago, Babe’
MLB legend Pete Rose got a bit vexed while he was in Philadelphia for the team’s 1980 World Champion celebration on Sunday when a reporter revived accusations that he had a sexual affair with a minor back in the 1970s. During the press availability portion of the celebration of the Phillies’ big season, Philadelphia Inquirer sportswriter Alex Coffey asked if his “presence” at the celebration sent a “negative message to women.” Charlie Hustle, who was banned from Major League Baseball in 1989 over gambling charges, reportedly replied, “No, I’m not here to talk about that. Sorry about that. It was 55 years ago babe.” I asked Pete Rose what he would say to people who say his presence here sends a negative message to women. His response: “No, I’m not here to talk about that. Sorry about that. It was 55 years ago babe.” — Alex Coffey (@byalexcoffey) August 7, 2022 Rose also offered a longer comment on the accusations, saying, “I’m going to tell you one more time. I’m … [Read more...] about Pete Rose Dismisses Allegations of Sex with Minor: ‘It was 55 Years Ago, Babe’
