Those who made Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo an exemplar of pandemic leadership are abandoning his side as news of his alleged cover up of the amount of nursing home deaths in New York continues to unravel. Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was commended by corporate media, heralded by Hollywood, and defended by powerful Democrats for his COVID-19 response. Cuomo issued a March 25, 2020 order that required nursing homes to accept recovering COVID-19 patients from the hospital. In May, Cuomo rescinded the order. Cuomo’s government omitted individuals who lived in nursing homes or long-term care facilities from their data on nursing home deaths because, according to a May Daily Caller News Foundation report, while the individual may have contracted the disease in the nursing home, they died in the hospital. Over the course of the nearly two month period when Cuomo’s directive was active, more than 9,000 COVID-19 positive patients were forced back into nursing … [Read more...] about The Walls Are Closing In On Andrew Cuomo

The $15 Minimum-Wage Debate Clarifies the Partisan Economic Divide
Republican “populists” are on the wrong side of this fight. Photo: J Scott Applewhite/AP/Shutterstock For many left-wing pundits, America’s partisan divide in 2021 is defined by its lack of a strong material basis . After all, a voter’s income level tells you less about her political allegiances today than it has for most of our nation’s modern history . In 2020, some of the wealthiest Zip Codes in the United States backed the party of organized labor by a landslide margin, while some of the poorest broke overwhelmingly for the party of libertarian billionaires. The ties that bind blue America’s tech entrepreneurs to its nonwhite gig workers — or red America’s oil barons to its white rural poor — are those of culture , not economics. Democrats stand for a multiethnic conception of American identity, secularism, cosmopolitanism, racial justice, and gender equality; Republicans, for a normatively white and Christian America, the patriarchal family, and zero-sum nationalism. … [Read more...] about The $15 Minimum-Wage Debate Clarifies the Partisan Economic Divide
Exclusive— CPAC Sunshine Edition: ACU Chair Matt Schlapp Says Mega Conservative Conference Considering Permanent Move to Florida
ORLANDO, Florida — American Conservative Union (ACU) chairman Matt Schlapp told Breitbart News exclusively that his organization’s decision to move its landmark conservative gathering, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), to Florida this year may be a more permanent relocation after all. CPAC begins Friday in Orlando, Florida, and for the first time in the historic conference’s decades-long history, it will not be in Washington, DC, or the D.C. area. Presidents from Ronald Reagan through Donald Trump and conservative luminaries of all stripes from senators to governors to U.S. House members to cabinet members and more have graced the stages of CPAC over the decades many times, so the move — due to the coronavirus pandemic — is a big one. The fact that it may be permanent — a huge loss for the D.C. area revenue-wise as the conference regularly brings in tens of thousands of travelers for several days — is even bigger as just days from now, former President Donald … [Read more...] about Exclusive— CPAC Sunshine Edition: ACU Chair Matt Schlapp Says Mega Conservative Conference Considering Permanent Move to Florida
Scarborough: How ‘Sick,’ ‘Gutless’ Is the GOP to Still Support Trump?
MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough on Friday sounded off on the GOP’s continued support of former President Donald Trump. This comes in response to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) saying Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is engaging in “cancel culture” for voting to impeach Trump for his role in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Scarborough, noting McCarthy, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley want to continue meeting with Trump, questioned how “sick” and “gutless” the GOP is to still support him. “I don’t really understand when it was Kevin McCarthy who was on the phone screaming at Donald Trump when he feared for his life. It was Kevin McCarthy begging the terrorists that Donald Trump call down the terrorists and stop the terrorists from attacking. And Donald Trump refused to do it. And when Kevin got angry, Donald Trump said, well, I guess those attackers, I guess they’re more upset about the election than you are, Kevin. … [Read more...] about Scarborough: How ‘Sick,’ ‘Gutless’ Is the GOP to Still Support Trump?
