Texas Governor Greg Abbott Ends Statewide Mask Mandate, Opens State 100%
LUBBOCK, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Tuesday afternoon that it’s time to open the state and end the mask mandate. “Under no circumstance can someone be punished for not wearing a mask,” he said during a news conference. By next Wednesday, March 2, all businesses of any time can open at 100%. He made the announcement from Lubbock on the same day Texas reported a new one day record for the number of people receiving vaccines — more than 216,000. “Within a few months, experts say every Texan who wants a vaccine, will be able to get a shot,” said Abbott. A grand jury indicted a Texas justice of the peace and three other people in February in connection to an investigation into voting fraud. The four co-defendants face 150 counts related to the 2018 Medina County Primary Election. A grand jury handed down indictments on February 11 charging Medina County, Texas, Justice of the Peace Tomas Ramirez, Leonor Rivas Garza, Eva Ann Martinez with 150 counts of voter fraud, News4SA reported . The indictment includes charges relating to organized election fraud, assisting voter voting ballot by mail, unlawful possession of a ballot or ballot envelop, illegal voting, election fraud, fraudulent use of an absentee ballot by mail, acting as an agent, tampering with government records, and election fraud. Texas Governor Ends Mask Mandate, Businesses Open 100 Percent
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the ending of the statewide coronavirus mask mandate during an event in Lubbock, Texas. The mandate went into effect in July and required all Texans to wear a mask covering the mouth and nose while in public places. Governor Abbott addressed a group of small business and community leaders at a meeting of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday afternoon. During the meeting, the governor announced he would end the statewide coronavirus mask mandate. “It is time for Texas to be open 100 percent,” the governor said. “Everybody that wants a job should be able to get a job.
