White House coronavirus advisor Jeff Zients announced at Wednesday’s COVID-19 briefing that the federal government will build three new mass vaccination sites in Texas and that the Centers for Disease Control had released its new guidance on tight-fitting masks. The sites will be located at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Ferris Park in Dallas, and NRG Stadium in Houston. Zients predicted that the sites will be opened to the public starting the week of Feb. 22 and, combined, will be capable of administering 10,000 vaccinations per day. Former college football player Bo Hines is taking on a longtime, 77-year-old North Carolina congresswoman with promises of term limits and a focus on tech censorship. Hines enjoyed a short, successful stint playing football at North Carolina State before hurting his shoulder, and then transferred to Yale to finish his undergraduate degree. Current Mexican Border State Governor Faces Organized Crime Probe
Federal prosecutors in Mexico are targeting a border state governor in an organized crime investigation and are asking that nation’s legislature to strip his criminal immunity protections. Prosecutors also say they are reviewing money laundering and tax fraud allegations. Federal prosecutors in a money-laundering task force from Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) filed a request with congressional leaders for hearings to remove criminal immunity and target Tamaulipas Governor Francisco Javier Cabeza de Vaca in connection with an investigation into organized criminal activity, money laundering, and tax fraud. The matter became public after Moises Ignacio Mier Velazco, a congressional leader with the MORENA Party, tweeted the document. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, February 25.
