Taylor Swift comes out with a new app

Are you a Swifty? If so, you might want the new Taylor Swift app. Photo Credit: Getty Images / Theo Wargo Look what you made Taylor Swift do. As a nod to fans who are always clamoring for news, photos and videos of the pop princess, she has come out with a free app called Taylor Swift: The Swift Life courtesy of Glu, the same folks who gave us Kim Kardashian: Hollywood and Katy Perry Pop. Unlike those apps, this one isn’t exactly a game. The object of The Swift Life is to share posts and photos hoping that Ms. Shake It Off — who occasionally interacts with fans — will notice them. Designed for iPhone and iPad (it requires iOS 8.0 or later) and Android devices (4.2 and up), Swifties can use SwiftSends — tiny paper airplane emojis resembling pendants she and Harry Styles wore when they dated — on posts for a better chance that she’ll like them and collect goodies like an animated Taymoji. The app will also list weekly events and daily top posts. Along the way you can collect virtual currency which can be used for in-app purchases starting at 99 cents. For die-hard fans, The Swift Life seems Taylor-made. Daniel Bubbeo is an assistant entertainment editor and has been with Newsday since 2000. He edits Long Island arts and technology coverage. Taylor Swift, new beau Tom Hiddleston cuddle and dance at Selena Gomez’s Nashville show

Looks like Taylor Swift is the one who can’t keep her hands to herself. While her best friend Selena Gomez warbled the lyrics to her song “Hands To Myself” during a Tuesday night concert in Nashville, the self-proclaimed queen of 1989 acted them out on her new “Thor” star beau, Tom Hiddleston. Fan-shot videos showed the two new lovebirds — joined by pals including Swift’s high school bestie Abigail Anderson and her boyfriend — cuddling up and dancing the night away in box seats at Bridgestone Arena. Swift and Hiddleston’s sick moves were only slightly less restrained than during their now-infamous dance-off in May at a post-Met Gala party, where they were first spotted together. About a month after the Anna Wintour fete, news broke that Swift and her then-boyfriend Calvin Harris had broken up after 15 months of dating, endless sappy vacation snaps and a heart-shaped locket heralding their one-year anniversary. Their split appeared cordial enough, with Harris tweeting a statement about “love and respect” and Swift echoing the message with a retweet — but things took a turn two weeks later when the Sun tabloid published paparazzi photos showing Hiddleswift snuggling and kissing on a beachside rock in Rhode Island. Harris unfollowed Swift and tweeted (then deleted) that it was “about to go down,” accompanied by three skull emojis, and the exes scrubbed their social media accounts of any trace of each other. A report later emerged that the “Bad Blood” singer had pulled the plug on their relationship in a phone call, echoing Swift's unceremonious 2008 dumping at the hands of former boy-band member Joe Jonas. Everything we know about Taylor Swift’s new album ‘Reputation’ and first single

With Monday's solar eclipse but a flickering memory, another star has reemerged to unite (or blind) us all.The dawn of Taylor Swift's next era is upon us: She announced the name of her highly anticipated sixth album, Reputation, and its release date, Nov. 10, Wednesday. The headline-making singer shared that the first single is due Thursday night, along with what appears to be the album's cover art. Taylor began what's sure to be a prolonged album rollout last Friday, when all of her social media accounts were mysteriously scrubbed of all prior posts, profile pictures and cover photos, leading many fans to speculate that new music is imminent. (That it happened on Aug. 18, exactly three years to the date she released Shake It Off and announced 1989, only fueled people's excitement). Sure enough, Taylor stealthily returned to social media Monday with a 10-second silent video of an animated snake, which she followed with slightly longer, more vivid clips Tuesday and Wednesday, revealing the reptile's full body. The plot thickened Monday when the website timeless.com appeared online, bearing only the words "Timeless Coming Soon." Eagle-eyed fans noticed on lyric website Genius.com that a new song titled Timeless was apparently registered under Taylor's name with ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), reinforcing the belief that it is indeed the name of her first TS6 single. Taylor's latest string of Instagram posts do not share the single's title nor do they provide a specific time for its release Thursday night. Some suspect the song's release will be accompanied by a music video à la Shake It Off, while others allege that she will actually premiere the video at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by her longtime rival (and purveyor of the most boring "beef" in recent pop history) Katy Perry. Frankly, we stopped caring about Taylor and Katy's drawn-out Continue Reading

Taylor Swift’s new single, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ shows breaking up isn’t hard to hum along to

The savviest part of Taylor Swift’s new single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” isn’t the chorus. Or the melody. Or the woodsy guitar hook. Or even the inevitable speculation over who this latest “love gone bad” song was written about. Instead, it’s the break in the song, three quarters of the way through, when Swift stops singing entirely and just talks to the listener like you’re her closest girlfriend. With an audible eye roll, Swift underscores the single’s central plot line, about a guy who keeps hurting her and coming back to do so again: “He calls me up and he’s, like, ‘I still love you,’ ” Swift moans. “And, I’m like, I mean, I mean, this is exhausting, you know?” SEE IT: TAYLOR SWIFT BUYS $5M CAPE COD PAD RELATED: SWIFT RELEASES NEW BREAKUP SONG No doubt millions do, and Swift knows it. After all, she didn’t sell zillions of CDs in the last few years by ignoring the needs and anxieties of her mooning teen-girl fan base. And even though she’s 22 now, she’s not about to forget to speak to them in their own, like, you know, language. The chatty, catchy and quite emphatic song is the first release from Swift’s upcoming album, “Red,” her fourth studio CD, which will hit stores Oct. 22. PHOTOS: HOLLYWOOD'S BIGGEST PLAYER? Though some fans have already taken to YouTube to complain that the song isn’t country enough, or doesn’t sound enough like the old Taylor, in fact it very much does. It’s another light pop song with a chorus even the deaf couldn’t miss. Unsurprisingly, this one borrows a whiff of the beefed-up sound from the most successful single of the year so far, “Call Me Maybe.” Swift told Continue Reading

Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris spark dating rumors with outings to Whole Foods, Kenny Chesney concert

Taylor Swift may be making sweet music with DJ Calvin Harris. Photos that surfaced on Twitter Wednesday showed the 25-year-old pop superstar on a low-key Whole Foods date in Nashville with the 31-year-old Scottish stud and underwear model, causing romance rumors to begin percolating online. In an adorable twist, the pair appeared to be rocking matching outfits: a frame-gripping grey tee and black jeans for him and a grey top and black skirt for her. Later, the duo took in a Kenny Chesney concert together, where an eagle-eyed fans filmed them walking out together while holding hands, TMZ reported. Swift also accompanied pals Ellie Goulding and the Haim trio to one of Harris' shows in Las Vegas last week, according to reports. Harris — whose real name is Adam Wiles — and Swift reportedly first got acquainted at the Brit awards in February, where they were spotted chatting away the night at an after-party. But sources in the electronic dance music scene said Swift was interested in a musical collaboration, not a hook-up. Harris, whose techno hits regularly top the charts in the UK, recently made a splash in the fashion world after he doffed his duds as the new face of Armani's underwear line. However, in a recent radio interview in Britain, Harris told hosts he would nix the "Blank Space" singer if he ever encountered her on Tinder, E! reported. "She's just the opposite of my type," Harris said. "She looks lovely, she's the opposite of my type, so I would just [swipe] left." ON A MOBILE DEVICE? WATCH VIDEO HERE Continue Reading

Taylor Swift reunites with ex Joe Jonas for outing with rumored girlfriend, her bestie Gigi Hadid

Taylor Swift appeared to shake off her bestie Gigi Hadid's rumored romance with her ex Joe Jonas. In fact, the trio was spotted out together hanging at the Soho House in Hollywood on Sunday. But in 2008, Swift was the one dating Jonas, who dumped her via a 27-second phone call after 4-months together. "When I find that person that is right for me, he'll be wonderful," the now 25-year-old singer told Elle DeGeneres at the time of their breakup. "When I look at that person, I'm not even going to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 27 seconds when I was 18." Their short lived romance was said to be the inspiration for many Swift songs, including 2009's "Better Than Revenge." Now, the pop star is dating Calvin Harris, who was said to be at the Hollywood eatery as well although he doesn't appear in the photos. Hadid and Jonas have yet to confirm their romance although they've been seen spending a lot of time together lately. After their weekend socializing with friends, the 20-year-old daughter of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Yolanda Foster and Jonas met up again for a bite to eat, this time in the company of her new kitten, Cleo, at Celestino Drago in Beverly Hills. "They dated a while back as well, but Gigi broke up with Joe before she started dating Cody (Simpson)," an insider told the Daily News' [email protected] "Joe always cared about her since he got dumped and thinks she's just the most gorgeous girl. "Jose really wants to move forward to the next level—being a serious boyfriend/girlfriend," the insider added. "But she says that she just got out of a relationship so she's not ready—but he's in love with her." Follow on Twitter:@RiveraZayda Continue Reading
