AKRON, Ohio - It will truly feel like spring on Thursday - if not summer. Akronites can expect a warm-up to the upper 70s, with mostly sunny skies amplifying the highly anticipated heat. Morning lows will dip to the mid to upper 50s. Winds will be a bit breezy, but with temperatures so warm there won't be much of a wind chill. In the late afternoon Akron will reach the high of 77 degrees, before settling in the low 70s to mid 60s the rest of the evening. Again, winds will speed up but there shouldn't be a noticeable chill. The windows down, sunglasses and T-shirt kind of weather will only strengthen into the weekend. However, it will be a different feel rolling out of it Sunday night.We start our Friday morning mild and mostly sunny. Temperatures range from the upper 40s at the shore to the low 50s on the mainland. Yes, the shore is usually milder but when we “over perform” on the thermometer, like we will do, these things happen.The warming wind will continue into the weekend. It will be one of those days where you may be lost in an office gaze out the window. If you work outside, it does not get much better than this. We will have a high temperature in the mid-70s under a mostly sunny sky. At the shore, it will be more like the low 60s.The one thing to note is the wildfire risk will be elevated because of the breezy and dry weather. The weather looks perfect for first day of French Quarter Fest in New Orleans, according to the National Weather Service. The free music festival starts Thursday (April 12). Most of the festival will be sunny and warm, but Saturday there's a 100 percent chance of rain, with some of the storms possibly being severe. Weather threats on Saturday include damaging wind gusts, large hail and tornadoes. "We're rain or shine though," the festival's account tweeted Tuesday. "As long as it's safe, the music will play! And we have lots of indoor stages and special events where folks can kick back if it's wet." The festival continues through Sunday, with music from 11 a.m. into the night.
