Entering the regular-season finale, nine quarterbacks have posted passer ratings of 100 or better. That’s nearly double the number from last season. Twelve quarterbacks own ratings of at least 98. For context, Brady’s 97.4 passer rating in 2014 ranked fifth in the league. This season, that figure would put him 14th, sandwiched between Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger. At Friday’s press conference, Brady showed little interest in talking numbers. “I’m not really a big stat guy,” he said. “I’m into wins.” When completion percentage was brought up, Brady explained how the number could be … [Read more...] about Tom Brady wants to talk about wins, not stats

HUFFPOST PERSONAL 08/02/2018 08:30 am ET Pamela BrunskillGuest Writer I was 15 when my father killed my stepmother and her lover in 1992. While I was walking with friends around school after a homecoming game, he walked in on the couple making love in his house in western New York, and he shot them. When my mom sat me down the next morning to tell me what she knew, waves of coldness washed over me, and I stifled the urge to throw up. Unable to process the magnitude of what he had done, it is only now that I can identify my revulsion, shock, sadness and confusion over his actions. The hope that additional information would make them understandable. Numbness because the situation was so awful. Shame that I was associated with it. Shame that compounded with each article published in The Buffalo News. Despite the shared last name, I hoped no one would connect me with the sensational story, and I guarded what Mom told me as best I could. Because I believed killing another … [Read more...] about My Dad Killed 2 People When I Was 15. Here’s Why I’m Finally Ready To Make Peace With Him.
Iranian-born Mina Dennert is leading a movement that challenges racial hatred in Sweden She woke up with her hair cut off and her body covered in Nazi symbols. She was 14 years old. In the white, rich and apparently peaceful area of Kullavik, south of Gothenburg, Sweden, Mina Dennert had become a girl who posed a threat to the white race. “Not being Swedish had never even occurred to me,” Dennert admitted, 26 years later, as she reflected on how you go about taking back control of your own life after such a devastating event. The social climate back then and its consequences, which resulted in the humiliation and rejection of that particular teenage girl in the suburb of Kullavik, meant that Dennert almost ceased to exist. Today, at least, there’s an answer. Dennert is the founder of #jagärhär, the Swedish movement known in the UK as #iamhere. The aim of the #jagärhär movement is for nobody to be exposed to hate speech or threats, … [Read more...] about Fighting hate with a message for the entire world
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns have reached out to Dez Bryant's representatives about the three-time Pro Bowl receiver signing a one-year deal with the Browns, a league source told cleveland.com. If talks progress, Bryant will come to Cleveland to get a feel for the organization, and if all goes well, he could become a Brown. Bryant is represented by Jay-Z's Roc Nation, which also represents Browns coach Hue Jackson. On Thursday, Jackson's agent John Thornton was on the sidelines at Browns training camp in Berea talking to Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and GM John Dorsey, and the subject of Bryant undoubtedly came up. In Cleveland, Bryant, 29, could step in and get significant playing time in place of Josh Gordon, who's currently away from the team to work on his overall health and treatment plan. The Browns have no idea when Gordon will be back, and the NFL has said 'there's no timetable for his return.' The league has also said it will 'deal with the matter at the appropriate time.' … [Read more...] about Browns and Dez Bryant’s reps have had initial talks about him signing with Cleveland
