RIVERVIEW • A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Monday in Riverview.Police there were called to a shooting in the 300 block of Scenic Drive at about 11:15 a.m. They found a man who had been shot at least once. Robert J. di Grazia, the former Boston police commissioner and St. Louis County police superintendent, died Thursday (April 26, 2018) at his home in Fort Myers, Fla. He was 90.The Boston Police Department announced his death.Mr. di Grazia served as an officer, sergeant and chief of the Novato, Calif., police department in the 1960s, the Boston Herald reported. He then led the St. Louis County Police Department from 1970 to 1972.He left St. Louis County when the mayor of Boston appointed him as commissioner there, the Boston Globe reported. He served from 1972 to 1977, during the height of that city's busing crisis. St. Louis County police officer arrested for DWI, the 4th from the department this year
CREVE COEUR • A St. Louis County police officer was arrested and charged with DWI after driving off a road in Creve Coeur early Saturday, authorities said, the fourth county officer to face drunken driving allegations this year.Creve Coeur police stopped Katherine Simmons, 33, about 1:30 a.m. in a residential area on Olive Boulevard near North Mosley Road, the department said in a release Monday.Simmons reportedly ran off the road and struck a street sign and a nearby tree, police said. She was the only occupant of the car and was not injured, police said.She told police she was currently employed as a detective with the St. Louis County Police Department, Creve Coeur police said.Officers said they determined she was intoxicated and arrested her for DWI.
