By Matthew Geagan, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — Jayson Tatum is an All-Star again, while Jaylen Brown has earned the honor for the first time in his career. Congratulations to them both for providing the dullest of bright spots on an otherwise dim Celtics season. READ MORE: Life Threatening Injuries After Several People Hit On High Street In Boston Now please, please, please, please skip out on this year’s All-Star festivities. Pretty please? Make no mistake, both of Boston’s stars are worthy additions of this year’s All-Star fun, and it should mean something that the Celtics’ young duo has earned the honors together. It’s a good thing that Tatum and Brown can showcase their abilities on one of the NBA’s biggest (fake) stages. At least that would be the case in a “normal” season. But nothing is normal about this season, and really, there probably shouldn’t be an actual All-Star game on March 7 in Atlanta. Just naming the teams would have been enough, giving players an … [Read more...] about Congrats To Jaylen And Jayson, Now Please Don’t Play In The All-Star Game

Democrat Illinois Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Ban ‘All Violent Video Games’
A Democrat lawmaker in Illinois has announced he wants to ban the sale of Grand Theft Auto (GTA), along with other video games that feature violence, after his state witnessed an increase in the amount of carjackings. Democrat state Rep. Marcus Evans introduced the bill, HB 3531 , which aims to amend an Illinois law preventing violent video games from being sold to children to an all-out ban on the sale “of all violent video games” to anyone. During a press conference on Monday, Evans mentioned Grand Theft Auto by name and put into his own words what he believes to be an example of a violent video game. According to Evans, “a video game that allows a user or player to control a character within the video game that is encouraged to perpetuate human-on-human violence in which the player kills or otherwise causes serious physical or psychological harm to another human or an animal” is an example of a violent video game. “The bill would prohibit the sale of some of these games … [Read more...] about Democrat Illinois Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Ban ‘All Violent Video Games’

US hits game-changing moment in COVID-19 fight
The U.S. is on the cusp of a game-changing moment in the fight against COVID-19 after a one-dose shot from Johnson & Johnson passed a key regulatory hurdle on Wednesday, giving it a clear path to emergency-use authorization. A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) review of a large clinical trial found the company's vaccine completely prevented hospitalizations and death and was also mostly effective against preventing moderate and severe cases of COVID-19. The vaccine may also provide better protection than expected against new variants of the virus. ADVERTISEMENT The information was published ahead of an FDA advisory committee meeting Friday, which will debate whether to grant the vaccine emergency authorization. The positive development gives hope that there will be a third vaccine against COVID-19 on the market as soon as this weekend, just days after the U.S. passed the milestone of half a million Americans killed by the virus. “Obviously, the prospect of a … [Read more...] about US hits game-changing moment in COVID-19 fight
Arizona men’s basketball focused on final three games with absence of 2021 postseason
Arizona men's basketball team's head coach Sean Miller held his weekly press conference via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 23, to discuss the final games of the season and what he wants to see from his team. With the self-imposed ban taking effect this season, the Wildcats will not be able to participate in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Arizona will also not play for the regular season Pac-12 title because of their current conference record. Regardless of that, Miller is still focused on his team’s upcoming games and closing the season out strong. “We just want to play really well,” Miller said. “We want to see if we can win both of these games [against Washington and Washington State] this week, but it will not be easy. Washington State, in particular, is playing really well. They have been able to beat Stanford and UCLA at home. We do not have a big window in front of us and we want to gain from the momentum that I hoped we established by winning a tough game against USC on the road.” It is … [Read more...] about Arizona men’s basketball focused on final three games with absence of 2021 postseason
