( CBS Baltimore ) — MLB has entered its second COVID spring training. Another COVID season isn’t far behind, and with any luck, this one will last 162 games rather than 60. While the pandemic has changed baseball, just as it’s changed everything else, the changes are now familiar. At the end of the day, it’s still baseball. And having games sure beats not having games. Welcome to the first installment of the Spring Training Report. Every Monday (or possibly Tuesday) we will take a look around the Majors at the stories making headlines. By JIMMY GOLEN, AP Sports Writer Garrett Richards had gotten only one out during his first spring training start, loading the bases and walking in one run against the Atlanta Braves before the Red Sox stopped the inning after 23 pitches. New Texas Rangers right-hander Kohei Arihara struck out two and allowed five hits while facing 11 batters in two shortened innings in his spring training debut. Arihara gave up a three-run homer in the 5-5, six-inning tie. After Arihara struck out Yoan Moncada with the bases loaded for the second out in the second, the inning was stopped because of his pitch count. That obviously didn't sit well with Chicago fans. Reigning AL MVP Jose Abreu, who had a single in the first inning, was on deck waiting to bat. Microsoft says Chinese hacking group targeting security flaws in business email app
Microsoft warned Tuesday that a hacking group supported by the Chinese government is exploiting security flaws in an email program popular among American businesses. The company said in a blog post that the group, named Hafnium, is trying to take advantage of previously unknown security weaknesses in the email application Exchange Server. Microsoft called on customers to update Exchange Server to fix four susceptibilities in the program. Microsoft said it determined Hafnium was behind the hack “based on observed victimology, tactics and procedures.” ADVERTISEMENT “Even though we’ve worked quickly to deploy an update for the Hafnium exploits, we know that many nation-state actors and criminal groups will move quickly to take advantage of any unpatched systems,” Tom Burt, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of customer trust and security, wrote in a blog post . Happ needed to slow down before throwing a single pitch for the Minnesota Twins. The left-hander tested positive for COVID-19 upon reporting to spring training, putting his practice schedule on hold. Happ cleared virus protocols on Tuesday and took part in team workouts for the first time at camp in Fort Myers, Florida. The rest of the Twins played an exhibition game against Atlanta in North Port.
