Police had not released any more details about the father’s death on Friday morning or what Fletcher called “a likely triple homicide” at the lake. No names were released. Doomsday Dad Chad Daybell Believed He Was a Seer Who Could See ‘Beyond the Veil’
In December 2019, police in Rexburg, Idaho alerted the media: Two children had gone missing, along with their mother, Lori Vallow, and her new husband, Chad Daybell. No one had any idea where they were. Quickly, speculation swirled—that maybe their disappearances, and their whereabouts, could be linked to the “cult-like” religious beliefs held by Vallow and Daybell. Both were avowed members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Daybell had found a small amount of celebrity within Mormon circles for authoring LDS fiction and running his own book publishing company. But both Vallow and Daybell also entertained ideas at the fringes of the Mormon faith—ideas that weren’t acceptable to talk about in church on Sundays. They held study groups and scrutinized the works of “near-death experience” authors who claimed to have died and come back to life with knowledge from “beyond the veil.” Much has been discussed about : the gorgeous mother and former beauty queen … [Read more...] about Doomsday Dad Chad Daybell Believed He Was a Seer Who Could See ‘Beyond the Veil’
Tahoe-Area Drone Light Shows Canceled Due To Weather
NORTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) — Unseasonable weather has forced officials in North Lake Tahoe to cancel the drone light shows planned in celebration of Independence Day this weekend. The shows were scheduled for Sunday in King Beach and Monday in Tahoe City, but aviation forecasts call for winds and wind gusts at flight levels to be significantly higher than allowable limits for the drone to safely fly over Lake Tahoe. As part of its operational requirements through the FAA and its insurance, Great Lakes Drone Company is required to rely on federal aviation weather data that takes terrain effects and altitude into consideration as well as other FAA guidelines when making flight decisions, according to a press release. The North Tahoe Business Association, Tahoe City Downtown Association, North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, North Tahoe Fire Protection District, regional meteorologists and operators of the Great Lakes Drone Company all participated in the decision to postpone the … [Read more...] about Tahoe-Area Drone Light Shows Canceled Due To Weather
Uvalde schools police chief resigns city council post
Pedro "Pete" Arredondo, whose delayed response to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, has been widely criticized resigned from his post on the city council, the local newspaper reported Saturday. "After much consideration, I regret to inform those who voted for me that I have decided to step down as a member of the city council," Arredondo told the Uvalde Leader-News. "The mayor, the city council, and the city staff must continue to move forward without distractions." Shortly after the article was published, however, the City of Uvalde released a statement saying it had not heard directly from Arredondo. "While it is the right thing to do, no one from the City has seen a letter or any other documentation of his resignation, or even spoken with him," read the statement, circulated by news outlets. Officials noted that they had learned of Arredondo's resignation only from the Leader-News's article. Arredondo, his lawyer, and a person who has handled … [Read more...] about Uvalde schools police chief resigns city council post
Anti-establishment San Francisco coffee house Trouble Coffee closes permanently after 15 years
Trouble Coffee, at 4033 Judah St., has permanently closed after 15 years, according to the San Francisco Chronicle (SFGATE and the San Francisco Chronicle are both owned by Hearst but operate independently of one another). The anti-establishment coffee house was a mainstay in the Outer Sunset community for more than a decade and helped start the influx of new restaurants and bars that turned the beachside neighborhood into a food-centric destination. Trouble Coffee was even credited as being the first to make artisanal toast popular, like Texas toast-sized slices with melted butter and cinnamon-sugar or avocado toast, which is now a nationwide brunch phenomenon. But, like many things in life, the “cool” ideas are often co-opted and flipped into a big moneymaker as larger corporations find trends and suck the life out of them. Owner Giulietta Carrelli declined to comment to the Chronicle, but DamnFine Pizzeria co-owner Laura Seymour confirmed to the paper that she and her … [Read more...] about Anti-establishment San Francisco coffee house Trouble Coffee closes permanently after 15 years
Why Nobody Should Want to Play for New York
And it’s not just about demanding fans. Photo: Erick W. Rasco/Sports Illustrated via Getty Images Until the Mets reportedly settled on former Angels general manager Billy Eppler as their new general manager Monday night, we had reached the point of their Mets’ desperate search for a GM that if you had not personally received an invitation to interview, they must have had your old number. As many as 12 different candidates for the job refused to even meet with the Mets, and their inability to find someone to fill what should, theoretically, be one of the most desired jobs in the sport (there are only 30 general managers in the Majors, after all) had become one of baseball’s running jokes. Though considering someone needs to be in charge of all the offseason moves the team clearly needs to make — assuming baseball’s looming labor fight doesn’t wipe out the offseason all together — you can forgive Mets fans for not laughing. There are an abundance of reasons that the Mets had … [Read more...] about Why Nobody Should Want to Play for New York

Friday’s protests came a day after the leaders of the parliament and another legislative chamber … [Read more...] about UN condemns protesters’ storming of Libya’s parliament
