Hillis’ first act as in that capacity has been to promote Lynn, according to a release.Since joining Great American in 2011, Lynn has distinguished himself as the youngest $1 million producer in the company’s history and its top sales representative two consecutive years. Great Plains Art Museum showcases Southwestern exhibit
The Great Plains Art Museum, located on the corner of 12th and Q streets, showcases works that have a centralized theme around the Great Plains region of the United States. On display now, however, is a set of pieces paying homage to the Southwest.Between 1807 and 1910, the Southwest was an unconquered, unknown region full of wonder and opportunity for new settlers. With this large westward migration came the iconic cowboy, men who traveled on horseback, herded cattle and established themselves in this new land.Great Plains Art Museum’s “The Cowboys from the Collection” exhibit, showing through April 28, showcases this movement and the new culture it brought to the world. This exhibition takes you back to a time of the manifest destiny settlers were trying to fulfill. Now she has put that into making beer. Bowens-Mercado is the first African-American woman in Connecticut to brew beer and one of only a handful across the country. As the owner of Rhythm Brewing Co., she created the unfiltered lager, Rhythm, at Overshores Brewery in East Haven, celebrating her second canning day Friday. “Getting into this really is a passion,” Bowens-Mercado said.
