(Getty Images) The Academy of Motions Arts and Sciences sent out a letter Thursday to nominees in which it disclosed that the event will be aired live, and no Zooming will be allowed. Nominees are being asked to attend in person. “For those of you unable to attend because of scheduling or continued uneasiness about traveling, we want you to know there will not be an option to Zoom in for the show,” read the letter, which was obtained by the Los Angeles Times. Oscar Nominees Warned: No Acceptance Speeches via Zoom, No Hoodies
Oscar nominees have been told by the show’s producers that they are not allowed to give their acceptance speeches remotely via Zoom next month during the Academy Awards, and clothing like hoodies and loungewear will be banned at the ceremony. Producers Steven Soderbergh, Jesse Collins, and Stacey Sher told attendees in an email on Thursday that an on-site coronavirus-related safety team will be present for the event at the Los Angeles Union Station. “We are going to great lengths to provide a safe and ENJOYABLE evening for all of you in person, as well as for all the millions of film fans around the world, and we feel the virtual thing will diminish those efforts,” the producers wrote in their email to nominees. Snowmobiler Dies After Fall Near Nevada County Lake
NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) – A man on a snowmobile died after falling in the area of Frog Lake on Saturday, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said. Reports of an avalanche involving three people came in at around 1:45 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office. Citigroup CEO bans Friday Zoom calls to combat pandemic fatigue
Citigroup CEO Jan Fraser is moving to ban internal Zoom calls for staff members on Fridays in an effort to promote a healthier work-life balance and combat pandemic fatigue. Fraser also stated in a memo sent to employees on Monday that she will be initiating a company-wide holiday, referred to as a Citi Reset Day, to help workers avoid burnout, according to CNBC . "The blurring of lines between home and work and the relentlessness of the pandemic workday have taken a toll on our well-being,” Fraser reportedly said in the memo. “It’s simply not sustainable.
