CHICOPEE - A Springfield man was seriously injured after he crashed his car into two utility poles, nearly cutting the vehicle in half. The 66-year-old driver was brought to the hospital by ambulance after the crash. He remains hospitalized and in stable condition, said Michael Wilk, police public information officer. The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m., Saturday, near 262 Carew St. The road was closed until 5:50 a.m., Sunday, while the victim was treated, the car removed and the poles replaced, he said. The man was alone when he crashed into the two poles. The Porsche came to a rest between the poles and was badly damaged. At least one of the poles was severed in the crash, he said. A 24-year-old Catonsville man was seriously injured after crashing a motorcycle in Ellicott City on Friday night, according to Howard County police.Devin Trey Burs lost control of the 2006 Kawasaki Ninja that he was driving west on Md. 100 near Snowden River Parkway at about 11:41 p.m. Friday, police said in a news release. A man sustained serious injuries in what police say was an attempt to take his life. 47-year-old Leonard Myree was shot once at Circle K on Shallowford Rd. late Friday night, according to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department. He was shot once and was seriously injured but is expected to survive. A man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning in south suburban Dolton. The man was walking at the intersection of Sibley Boulevard and Evers Avenue about 2:15 a.m. when a vehicle struck him and then fled, Dolton police said. The man was knocked across the intersection. The man was taken in serious condition to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, Indiana. Dolton Police were investigating.
