New or used? Either way, price hikes squeeze U.S. auto buyers.
FENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The viral pandemic has triggered a cascade of price hikes throughout America’s auto industry — a surge that has made both new and used vehicles unaffordable for many. Prices of new vehicles far outpaced overall consumer inflation over the past year. In response, many buyers who were priced out of that market turned to used vehicles. Yet their demand proved so potent that used-vehicle prices soared even more than new ones did. The price of an average new vehicle jumped 6% between January of last year, before the coronavirus erupted in the United States, and December to a record $40,578, according to data from Edmunds.com. Yet that increase was nothing next to what happened in the used market. The average price of a used vehicle surged nearly 14% — roughly 10 times the rate of inflation — to over $23,000. It was among the fastest such increases in decades, said Ivan Drury, a senior manager of insights for Edmunds.com. The main reason for the exploding … [Read more...] about New or used? No. 3 Michigan Continues To Roll
Juwan Howard understands the power of patience. It should serve No. 3 Michigan well this week. Thirty seasons after first arriving in Ann Arbor as part of the famed Fab Five, the second-year coach watched Franz Wagner match his season-high with 21 points and Isaiah Livers finish with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Wolverines pulled away or a 73-57 victory at Indiana — and to the precipice of Howard’s first Big Ten crown. Uncensored Breastfeeding Ad to Air During Golden Globes
The first ad to explicitly show lactating breasts on network television will air during the Golden Globes Sunday evening. Frida Mom — which sells postpartum recovery essentials — released an ad titled “Stream of Lactation” online this week, promoting a new line of breastfeeding accessories. The ad follows exhausted women trying to nurse their babies and does not censor the women’s breasts in any way. “Is it too early to contact a lactation consultant?” asks one mother in the ad, seemingly frustrated over a small amount of milk pumped from her breast. “Am I bad mom if I stop now?” asks another woman. “Good moms should know how to do this.” Watch Below: In another scene, a mother can be seen trying to unclog a milk duct in the shower using an electric toothbrush. Another mom can be seen pulling cabbage leaves — which some women use to relieve breast engorgement — out of her bra. “Whether starting or stopping, breastfeeding is an emotional and physical journey full … [Read more...] about Uncensored Breastfeeding Ad to Air During Golden Globes
