close Video Victor Davis Hanson: Our ancestors were fearless builders and pioneers. Today we delay, idle and gripe Members of previous generations now seem like giants. When did we become so small? We of the 21st century are beginning to look back at our own lost epic times and wonder about these now-nameless giants who left behind monuments that we cannot replicate, but instead merely use or even mock. It’s a new season, Phil Ferrigno has reminded his Lincoln football team. Last season is long gone. It was in the rearview mirror even before the first spring practice. “It’s always fun to think about, though,” Ferrigno said. “Always helpful to draw upon.” The 2018 Lincoln season was perfect. But he probably couldn’t have predicted this: On the heels of another dominating … [Read more...] about State champion Lincoln a title contender again despite graduation losses
Down 14-0 late in a half isn’t normally an insurmountable deficit, but top seed and host Serra, battling some complacency, was in some serious trouble Saturday. Especially because eighth seed and 10-0 Half Moon Bay, a smallish public school probably misplaced in Central Coast Section’s most competitive division, had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Plus, it had a stranglehold on the ball. But the battle-tested Padres (10-1) were able to flip the switch in a big way, scoring six unanswered touchdowns in the final 24 minutes and 32 seconds to post a 42-14 CCS D1 quarterfinal victory. A Dominique Lampkin 57-yard completion to Terence Loville set up Lampkin’s 9-yard TD run just before halftime to cut the deficit to 14-7 and give the Padres all the momentum needed to run past the Cougars in the second. What did Serra coach Patrick Walsh say at halftime? “We're not going out like that,” Walsh told Prep2Prep writer Harold Abend. “We can go out and we … [Read more...] about Serra scores 6 straight touchdowns to top game Half Moon Bay
