Harvey Weinstein: Rose McGowan makes rape accusation; Hanks blames Hollywood entitlement

The latest developments in the Harvey Weinstein scandal, as they happen:Rose McGowan claims "HW"  raped her in tweet to Amazon chief: After a brief suspension from Twitter, actress Rose McGowan forcefully returned Thursday, stating more frankly what she has long suggested: "HW raped me."Weinstein representative Sallie Hofmeister did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press seeking comment, but has said Weinstein "unequivocally" denies "any allegations of non-consensual contact."McGowan last year said that she had been raped by a "studio head," according to The AP. The New Yorker exposé that ran Tuesday reported that Weinstein had allegedly sexually assaulted three women, though the third woman was unnamed. The New York Times earlier reported that Weinstein paid a financial settlement of $100,000 to McGowan in 1997. That settlement included provisions about speaking about the case in the future."I told the head of your studio that HW raped me," McGowan said in tweets directed to Amazon chief Jeff Bezos. "Over and Over I said it. He said it hadn't been proven. I said I was the proof."Representatives for Amazon did not immediately comment to The AP on Thursday. How McGowan ran afoul of Twitter: Twitter is finally explaining why it temporarily restricted McGowan's account."THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE," McGowan captioned an Instagram post featuring a screenshot of a Twitter notice indicating her account violated Twitter rules and had been temporarily limited.Late Thursday morning, Twitter said it had unlocked her account. "We want to explain that her account was temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone number, which violates our Terms of Service," the Twitter Safety team said in a post. "The Tweet was removed and her account has been unlocked. We will be clearer about these policies and decisions in the future."Twitter's response came after a storm of Continue Reading

Rose McGowan dishes about real-estate agent accidentally eating pot brownies

Actress Rose McGowan sold her Los Feliz house this spring for $1.775 million, but she recently dished to talk show host Chelsea Handler about her real-estate agent maybe, possibly, accidentally getting high.It started when McGowan’s assistant was surprised to hear that the actress had never had “edibles.” Later, when eight real-estate agents and inspectors were scheduled to visit the house, McGowan noticed a large plate of brownies with a note that said “Enjoy!” attached to the plastic wrap, but didn’t think about it and left the house. PHOTOS: Inside celebrity homes “At 4:30 that afternoon I get a call from my Realtor saying, ‘I’m at my parent-teacher conference. Rose McGowan would ‘hang’ herself if she gains a pound this holiday season, calls meditators ‘drunk’

Things got a little weird at the Change Begins Within benefit on Monday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, but what do you expect when it's hosted by the pro-Transcendental Meditation David Lynch Foundation? One guest who wasn't exactly buying the "Blue Velvet" director's affinity for TM was actress Rose McGowan. "I don't meditate for sh—," the hellacious hottie told us on the red carpet, adding that "most of the others" on the rug who would claim they did meditate are "probably lying and drunk." Perhaps she should at least consider acupressure. When we asked McGowan what she'd do if she gained even a pound in this festive season, she deadpanned: "I would hang myself off the Hollywood sign. What do you think?" We were a little freaked until she said she was kidding. We kind of wish Susan Sarandon was kidding when the actress and SPiN table-tennis club owner showed us a rather unusual bracelet she was wearing crafted from opals, rubies, gold and her children's teeth — including, she said, her son Jack's wisdom teeth. From this point on, Sarandon will star in our recurring nightmares about the Tooth Fairy. Although the show celebrated the network's 20-millionth subscriber, it was hardly an evening for the people. Celebrities, not ordinary Sirius listeners, packed the Apollo. Martha Stewart, Alec Baldwin, Ben Stiller, Jerry Seinfeld, Matt Damon and Keith Richards were just a few of the stars there. Sir Paul saw so many famous faces that at one point he commanded concertgoers to "Clap if you're NOT a celebrity!" Read Rose McGowan’s speech from Women’s Convention

Activist and actress Rose McGowan spoke publicly for one of the first times since accusing Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment at the inaugural Women’s Convention at Cobo Center that "we are all 'MeToos.'" The following is her speech transcribed: "Good morning women, allies. Thank you to Tarana Burke. Thank you to all of you fabulous, powerful, strong MeToos. Because we are all MeToos. Thank you to Tarana for giving us two words and a hashtag to free us.I have been silenced for 20 years. I have been slut shamed. I have been harassed. I have been maligned. And you know what, I am just like you. Because what happened to me behind the scenes happens to all of us in this society, and that cannot stand and it will not stand. We are free. We are strong. We are one massive collective voice. That is what Rose Army is all about, it’s about all of us being roses in our own life. Not me, the actual flower. We have thorns. And our thorns carry justice and our thorns carry consequence. No more will we be shunted to the side. No more will we be hurt. It’s time to be whole. It’s time to rise. It’s time to be brave. In the face of unspeakable actions from one monster we look away to another, the head monster of all right now. And they are the same. And they must die. It is time. The paradigm must be subverted. It is time.We have been waiting a long time for this to happen, but we don’t need to wait anymore because we’ve got this. We’ve got this, I know it! My sisters, our allies, our brothers, we are no nation. We are no country, we belong to no flag. We are a planet of women and you will hear us roar. I came to be a voice for all of us who’ve been told we are nothing, for all of us who have  been looked down on, for all of us who have been grabbed by the (expletives). Plastic surgery overload? Rose McGowan’s puffy face makes her unrecognizable

Rose McGowan plays a doctor on this season of "Nip/Tuck," but it appears the actress may have gone under the knife herself. During the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art's 30th anniversary gala over the weekend, onlookers were shocked to see the barely recognizable actress sporting a taut, puffy face. McGowan, 36, has admitted to having plastic surgery in the past after a frightening car accident in which her sunglasses had smashed onto her face. "I didn't realize I was hurt until I put my hand to my face and felt the flap of skin," she recalled. "My glasses had sliced me under my eye." To restore her Hollywood good looks, McGowan says she found a plastic surgeon to repair the damage. However by the looks of things, it appears as though she kept the doctor on speed dial. Though she has four new movies in the works, McGowan, who recently finished working on ex-fiance Robert Rodriguez's new movie "Machete," may want to consider easing up on her changing look. The actress reportedly lost a role to Christina Ricci in 2007's "Speed Racer" because of her appearance. "The studio felt like she was hard to recognize and worried that by the time the movie hit theaters, fans might not know who she was," a source told the Daily News at the time. Fast forward two years and the actress is barely recognizable now. Join the Conversation: Continue Reading

Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan call off engagment

Rose McGowan and marriage just don't seem to mix. For the second time in her life, the 36-year-old has backed out of plans to wed. The actress has called off her engagement to director Robert Rodriguez, Radar Online reports. McGowan previously cancelled her two-year-engagement to rocker Marilyn Manson. She starred in Rodriguez's 2007 film,"Grindhouse," and has a part in his upcoming movie, "Machete," out in 2010. McGowan's also set to star in the Marvel Comics adaptation of "Red Sonja," which is being produced by Rodriguez, and is due to hit theaters next year. Rose McGowan and Zac Efron miss out on ‘Speed Racer’ film

Sometimes a little "work" doesn't work in Hollywood. Christina Ricci and Emile Hirsch will tear up the screen next summer in a live-action remake of the old "Speed Racer" cartoon. But a source close to the writer/directors, the Wachowski siblings, tells us their earlier choices were Rose McGowan and Zac Efron. McGowan, 34, has admitted to having plastic surgery for an eye injury related to a car accident. But casting skeptics suspect she has had much more done, and that it cost her the role. "The studio felt like she was hard to recognize and worried that by the time the movie hit theaters, fans might not know who she was," says our insider. A rep for the actress said "she was not pursuing this role." Efron, meanwhile, may be taking over the world with the "High School Musical" franchise, but his youth worked against him for the part of Speed. "During his auditions, Zac never connected to the romantic lead in the reading," says our source. "By the second round, the casting crew didn't feel he was believable as a leading man/hero." Don't sweat it, Zac — you never would have lived down the character's little red neckerchief, anyway. Rose McGowan says she’s ‘insulted’ by Adam Sandler’s casting note urging actresses to wear ‘push up bras’

Rose McGowan has a thing or two to say to "Madam Panhandler" or rather Adam Sandler. The 41-year-old actress took to Twitter recently to address her issues with a casting note for an upcoming Sandler project. "Casting note that came w/script I got today," she tweeted Wednesday. "For real. name of male star rhymes with Madam Panhandler hahahaha I die." Along with her cryptic yet comical tweet McGowan posted a portion of the note, which instructed actresses to "Please make sure to read the attached script before coming in so you understand the context of the scenes. - Wardrobe Note: Black (or dark) form fitting tank that shows off cleavage (push up bras encouraged). And form fitting leggings or jeans. Nothing white." The "Charmed" alum's fans quickly reacted to her post, which was retweeted nearly 2,300 times. "And people wonder why his movies flop. Ugh," one fan wrote. Another added, "Adam Sandler lost his damn mind, starting to give me perv creep vibes!!" One fan even called Sandler out for other seemingly sexist gestures writing, "The @rosemcgowan script note is 2nd creepiest #AdamSandler related anecdote of the week following this red carpet pic." That photo showed Sandler, Selena Gomez and Kevin James at the "Hotel Transylvania 2" screening in Cancun, Mexico, on June 14. While Gomez was dressed in a red gown with a thigh-high slit, Sandler appeared in an oversized, wrinkled T-shirt, baggy pants and sneakers. James was slightly better with a black T-shirt, gray shorts and sneakers. Sandler's sloppy appearance was a stark contrast to what McGowan brought to light by sharing his sexy dress requirements for actresses. On Tuesday, McGowan returned to Twitter to clear up exactly what she felt insulted by in Sandler's casting note. "I was insulted by the instructions to 'read the script for context.' Hahaha," she wrote. Follow on Twitter @RiveraZayda Continue Reading

Rose McGowan says ‘wussy’ agent fired her for criticizing Adam Sandler movie role

Rose McGowan objected to a role in an Adam Sandler movie and she revealed that this candid admission has cost her. The “Charmed” star announced Wednesday that she had been fired by her agent after she posted a casting note for an upcoming Sandler project. “I just got fired by my wussy acting agent because I spoke up about the bulls--t in Hollywood,” she tweeted. “Hahaha. #d----ebags #awesome #BRINGIT” McGowan claimed that her agents dropped her after she tweeted a wardrobe description from an audition script to her 580,000 followers. The 41-year-old star revealed last week that actresses were told to come to the audition wearing form-fitting clothing, including a top that “shows off cleavage.” She also said that the film’s star was a male actor whose name rhymed with “Madam Panhandler,” which she later confirmed referred to Sandler. The “Grindhouse” star’s agents were Sheila Wenzel and Steve Muller of Innovative Artists, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wenzel and Muller did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment. McGowan, who recently made her directorial debut with the short film "Dawn," seems unfazed by no longer having representation, “The awesome thing about being an artist?” she wrote in a follow-up tweet. “You can’t be fired from your own mind. #FREEDOM.” ON A MOBILE DEVICE?
