Following Vermont Gov. Bernie Sanders’ (D-VT) interview regarding GOP tax cuts on CNN on Sunday, the Republican National Committee (RNC) released a statement on Christmas mocking his positive remarks on the bill. “Eberniezer Scrooge turned into Sanders Claus yesterday when asked about middle class tax cuts,” the statement read. “Bernie has long supported massive tax increases on everyone — including the middle class — but this Christmas, even this Grinch’s heart has grown.” The statement was in reaction to Sanders' comment that the GOP tax bill was a “very good thing” when CNN news anchor Jake Tapper asked the governor on his show “State of the Union” how he felt about 91 percent of middle income Americans receiving tax cuts after the bill goes into effect, the Hill reported. "That's why we should've made the tax breaks for the middle class permanent. But what the Republicans did is made the … [Read more...] about RNC Calls Bernie ‘Sanders Claus,’ ‘Scrooge,’ ‘Grinch’ For Tax Cut Comments

President Trump’s longtime personal bodyguard has hit pay dirt, thanks to the GOP. The Republican National Committee is paying former Trump aide Keith Schiller $15,000 a month for “security services,” according to a report Wednesday. A Republican official told CNBC that the party has hired Schiller’s KS Global Group to consult on the site selection process for the 2020 Republican National Convention. Schiller left his post as director of Oval Office operations at the White House in September. He was reportedly upset with the pay cut he took by joining the administration and his limited access to his longtime boss after the appointment of White House chief of staff John Kelly. CNN reported at the time that Schiller’s White House salary was $165,000, a massive drop from his Trump Organization earnings, which equaled about $294,000 a year. His firm has already collected $75,000 from the RNC since October. Stephen Spaulding, the former special … [Read more...] about RNC reportedly pays Trump’s ex-bodyguard $15,000 a month
Charlotte liberal activists said they were confused when Mayor Vi Lyles announced Thursday that the city would bid for the 2020 Republican National Convention, which would likely launch President Donald Trump’s re-election bid. They said they would be fine with the city hosting the RNC in any other election cycle, but they said Trump is a uniquely polarizing person. His positions on race and immigration would be “divisive,” especially in a city that faced protests in September 2016 after Keith Scott was shot and killed, some activists said. Lyles, a Democrat who is the city’s first African-American female mayor, said Thursday she was focused on the economic opportunity. The Democratic National Convention in Charlotte four years ago was estimated to have an economic impact of $163 million. “To invite such a racially dividing president as such a time as this – I don’t feel this sends a message of unity,” said Colette Forrest, the former … [Read more...] about Hosting Trump’s RNC would be ‘beyond the pale.’ Activists question Charlotte bid.
Love is not in the air between Republican and Democratic leaders in Capitol Hill, a fact the Republican National Committee was unafraid to advertise this Valentine's Day. During an appearance on Fox and Friends on Tuesday, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus emphasized the cards, which mock a variety of well-known liberal lawmakers, should not be interpreted as an insult to their political foes. They're hilarious and it's meant in good fun, but I think we make a few political points as well, of course, said Priebus said. The cards, available on the RNC Web site, include a picture of a prominent Democrat followed by a supposedly lighthearted but obviously personal jab. I have a short list of Valentines this year. reads a card poking fun at Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, who is illustrated with part of his face cut off in a reference to his short stature.
