He even paid tribute to her with his outfit: his loud bowling shirt had a picture of MacLaine on it. MacLaine, accepting the award, said she was glad to be there — “I’m glad to be anywhere,” she joked. In her acceptance speech, she gushed about her love for Austin and how great it felt to be in a creative community. “I think you should build a wall around this city,” she said. “I’m overwhelmed every time I come back here.” Previous I watched the ‘Christian Netflix’ for a week. Checking into a Toms River motel? Bring photo I.D.

TOMS RIVER - Recent raids at two township motels have led the Township Council to introduce a new law that would require hotel and motel guests to show government-issued I.D. when they check in.Township Administrator Paul J. Shives said the ordinance, which was introduced Dec. 12 by the council, was modeled on a similar measure that's on the books in Wall. RELATED: 10 arrested at Toms River's Americana Motel on drug charges The township's newly-formed "Quality of Life Task Force," -- which conducted recent raids at downtown's Red Carpet Inn and the Americana Motel on Route 166 -- became aware of the Wall ordinance and recommended the council adopt it, Shives said. The task force includes members from the police department and Bureau of Fire Prevention, as well as the zoning and code enforcement departments.  RED CARPET INN: Police file nuisance complaint against Toms River motel If it's approved by the council after a public hearing Dec. 26, the ordinance would require motel and hotel guests produce a government-issued photo identification and two other forms of I.D. when checking into a hotel or motel. Motel and hotel guests will also have to provide their phone numbers, a description of their vehicle, and their driver's license number. Shives said some of the township's hotels and motels already collect this information, while others do not. NOT A HATE CRIME: Toms River police say hockey, not hate crime, was behind ice rink disturbance In early October, 11 men and four women were arrested at the Red Carpet Inn on Water Street and accused of drug distribution and drug possession.About a month later, the township filed a public nuisance complaint against the 50-room motel, saying it "endangers the safety or health of a considerable number of people," and that "unlawful conduct" takes place there. Police said officers have responded to more than 750 incidents at the Red Carpet Inn since 2015, Continue Reading

Liam Hemsworth dressed as a panda, carried Jennifer Lawrence’s purse during Great Wall of China visit

Liam Hemsworth is going to miss his “Hunger Games” co-stars — but he’s not going to miss carrying Jennifer Lawrence’s purse. The duo paid a visit to The Great Wall of China during the “Mockingjay - Part 2” press tour, resulting in a hilarious photo of Hemsworth dressed as a panda and carrying a Valentino handbag. “Jen didn’t want to carry her handbag anymore, which is so like Jen,” he explained about the pic to Jimmy Kimmel on Monday’s show. “So I carried her handbag. I figured it added to the whole picture of the Great Wall.” As for why the 25-year-old was dressed like a panda, Hemsworth said that he and co-star Josh Hutcherson (who is also glimpsed in the photo) purchased the fuzzy black-and-white hats to keep warm. Hemsworth also said that he’d miss the “Hunger Games” cast as they wrapped up their final press tour together after making stops in Madrid, London, Paris, Berlin and Beijing. “It’s the end of a great journey ... and we're just sad not to tour the world together,” he said. “That's one of the funnest parts.” Following his appearance on “Kimmel,” Hemsworth joined his co-stars at the Los Angeles premiere for the “Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.” Out of respect for the victims of the Paris attacks, the event was a quieter affair than the glitzy ones held around the world. Even though the actors did not give red carpet interviews at the premiere, many expressed their support by wearing special mockingjay pins with ribbons in the color of France’s flag. “Our hearts are with you France where we have so many amazing fans,” actress Elizabeth Banks tweeted Monday, along with a photo of herself holding the pin. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2” premieres Nov. 20. Michael Strahan frowns at hitting Operation Smile’s red carpet, though fiancée Nicole Murphy loves it

Maybe all those early mornings are getting to Michael Strahan? The usually genial host of “Live! With Kelly and Michael” was not so friendly with photogs at Operation Smile’s event in New York Thursday night. “He got out of his car and was adamant that he was not going to walk the red carpet,” one photographer at the event tells [email protected] “Everyone saw the whole thing happen.” Our source says they saw event organizers scrambling to find a way to get the gridiron great to walk the carpet and pose for a few pics. They eventually reeled in Operation Smile’s major fund-raiser, Kathy Van Zeeland, for help outside Cipriani Wall Street, where the event was held. “They brought her over to Strahan while he was still at the curb, and had her pull him onto the carpet so he couldn’t say no,” says our spy. Strahan was supposed to stop and do an interview for “Extra,” but he told producers he didn’t want to do a Q&A outside. “He wasn’t going to do it. Then he ended up giving them a bite,” says our tipster. Meanwhile, as Strahan breezed by the carpet to head inside, his fiancée Nicole Murphy was happily posing up a storm on the carpet, said our spy, laughing. Once inside, the ABC host gave an intro to the crowd, then left the building to head to another event. In Strahan’s defense, we hear it was hammered out beforehand that he was not supposed to walk the carpet, and that his press and photo work was scheduled to happen backstage. “He had two events that night,” Strahan’s rep tells us. “He did Operation Smile, then moderated a Clinton event at the Plaza afterwards. He had to leave to get to that event. He was happy to be at Operation Smile and take pictures with the kids. He goes above and beyond for everyone, he really does.” Join the Continue Reading

Heidi Klum makes first red carpet appearance at amfAR Gala since split from husband Seal

Heidi Klum glammed it up at the amfAR Gala in support of AIDS research Wednesday night — making her first red carpet appearance since she announced she and husband Seal had split. The Teutonic hottie arrived at Cipriani Wall Street for the Fashion Week charity event with a full entourage and camera crew in tow, still sporting a gold band on her ring finger. Klum, looking fab in a strapless black sequined Roberto Cavalli dress and her hair pulled back in a ponytail, broke the news about the end of her seven-year marriage on Jan. 23. Both had been photographed as recently as Tuesday still wearing their rings. The “Project Runway” host still sported a tattoo of her hubby’s name on her inner right forearm. The international fashion model upstaged all the other A-listers like Julianne Moore, Jennifer Hudson, Elizabeth Hurley and former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld. Lindsay Lohan, who slinked in around the same time as Klum in a high-collared, form-fitting white frock, planting kisses on freaky fashion photographer Terry Richardson. Sarah Jessica Parker hosted the celebrity AIDS benefit, which signals the beginning of New York Fashion Week every year, and appeared to be the only star who didn’t leave her wallet at home. Auctioneer Lydia Fenet rapped the gavel on several high-priced items for the benefit. Debbie Harry presented an Andy Warhol photo from the 1970s that fetched $40,000. Padma Lakshmi offered a 1982 portrait of a shirtless Richard Gere in tight jeans photographed by Robert Mapplethorpe. The TV foodie kissed the print, which fetched $20,000, and offered to hang it herself for $5,000 more. Join the Conversation: Continue Reading

Michael Douglas puts on brave face during ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ premiere in New York

NEW YORK -- Michael Douglas has channeled the confidence of ruthless corporate raider Gordon Gekko while walking the red carpet at the New York City premiere of his latest film, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps." The Academy Award-winning actor recently announced he's being treated for throat cancer. He posed for photos Monday night with co-stars including Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan and director Oliver Stone. He didn't give interviews. LaBeouf calls the 65-year-old Douglas a "wolf." He notes Douglas showed no signs of weakness while making the "Wall Street" sequel, which opens Friday. Stone says "it's a struggle" and "it's tough," but Douglas is "fighting." Stone also directed the original "Wall Street" in 1987. The movie featured Charlie Sheen as a stockbroker hungry for success. Douglas won an Oscar for playing Gekko. Revenge is sweet, stunning & sexy for Silda Wall Spitzer

Eat your heart out, Eliot. If the best revenge is looking good, Silda Spitzer was the belle of her ball Wednesday night, dazzling men and women alike in her Carolina Herrera dress and million-dollar smile. While her disgraced husband sat home in their Fifth Ave. apartment, Silda was New York's Cinderella for the evening. She danced the night away to the Motown band Total Soul, casting months of pain to the wind, at least for this one night. She left at midnight, after raising $1.4 million for her foundation and six hours of celebrating at the elegant Christie's auction house in Rockefeller Center. More than 500 people turned out for the gala benefit for Children for Children, a nonprofit she started in 1996 to encourage volunteerism in kids. Donors were greeted by a transformed woman - no longer the ashen and tear-stained face of a woman betrayed just 10 weeks ago by a sleazy spouse caught up in an international prostitution ring. "Wow! She looks amazing!" crowed celebrity fashion consultant Mary Alice Stephenson when she looked at the photos of Spitzer in yesterday's Daily News. "She looked like she would give an A-list actress a run for their money on the red carpet." Herrera was a perfect designer for that moment, Stephenson said. The low-cut, form-fitting orange dress, with a large bow in the front, "was sexy without going over the top, glamorous and sophisticated. "This woman knew all eyes would be on her, and she picked a 'look at me' dress that was absolutely perfect in every way," Stephenson said. "With the sexy slingback shoe, the look was young and fresh. It did not say, 'politician's wife.' It said, 'I'm a star.'" The reaction to the dress was reminiscent of a sexy black off-the-shoulder number by designer Christina Stambolian that was dubbed Princess Diana's "revenge dress" in 1994. Diana wore it to a charity event the night Prince Charles went on TV and confessed his adulterous affair with Camilla Parker Continue Reading
