WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday confirmed that his CIA chief secretly met with Kim Jong Un in North Korea and said “a good relationship was formed” heading into the adversaries’ anticipated summit. Mike Pompeo’s highly unusual talks took place “last week,” Trump tweeted, and “went smoothly,” with details about the presidential meeting within the next few months “being worked out now.” “Denuclearization will be a great thing for World, but also for North Korea!” Trump wrote while at his Florida estate, where he was hosting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Trump had disclosed on Tuesday that the U.S. and North Korea were holding direct talks at “extremely high levels” in preparation for a possible summit. He said five locations were under consideration for the meeting, which could take place by early June. Confirmation of Pompeo’s trip later came from two officials, … [Read more...] about Donald Trump says ‘good relationship’ formed with North Korea

We know President Donald Trump is a strong man, possibly the strongest and most fit president we’ve ever had.But even his broad shoulders — which many say are the broadest of all the presidential shoulders — can’t carry the weight of the scandals that are presently piling up.We’re only one year into Trump’s presidency, and we’re already witnessing its entirely predictable collapse.Consider the news swirling about on Thursday:The phrase “pee tape” was trending on Twitter, thanks to excerpts from former FBI Director James Comey’s upcoming book describing Trump’s obsession with one of the more lurid claims in the controversial dossier compiled by a British spy. We don’t know if there’s actually a video recording of Trump watching Russian prostitutes urinate on a bed in a Moscow hotel room. But we know it’s at least a possibility, and that’s not good for a president.Comey’s book also describes … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s presidency is collapsing
In the past few months, El Trumpeto has gone from insisting that he wants a deal on immigration and DACA to saying no DACA deal whatsoever, and he has gone from a campaign of touting his wall to a fence and now to a wall of National Guard troops. Who can keep up? But one factor seems constant here—it’s that every time the very minuscule shred of the democratic Donald Trump of the past shows up and gives us all hope that there is some shred of decency and humanity still present in this 239 pounds of clay, Fox News gets into his head and his ear. Trump, a reportedly avid Trump TV—I mean Fox TV watcher—seems to be basing all of his policies from news reports garnered watching the anti-immigrant, racist, GOP propaganda arm, aka state TV. Forget aides, advisors, national security reports and inside information a president is privy to. El Trumpeto’s brain, like a porous sponge, is being filled with the likes of Napolitano and Hannity, who cannot get enough of … [Read more...] about Is Donald Trump running the US, or Fox and the base?
By Brian Bennett 6:25 AM EDT As the sun was setting on the evening of April 9, President Donald Trump gathered the Vice President, senior military leaders and his newly minted National Security Adviser around the long wooden table in the Cabinet Room to discuss one of the gravest decisions any Commander in Chief can make: whether to use military force against a foreign threat. The Syrian government had allegedly used chemical weapons on a town near Damascus, killing at least 40 innocent civilians, violating international law and crossing a strategic red line Trump himself had drawn nearly a year earlier. But the President had something else on his mind. “So I just heard that they broke into the office of one of my personal attorneys,” he said, unprompted, after reporters were ushered into the room. “Here we are talking about Syria,” Trump groused, “and I have this witch hunt constantly going on.” His generals looking on stiffly, Trump launched … [Read more...] about Donald Trump Relied on Michael Cohen to Weather the Storm.
