Matt Schroeder , Patch Staff Posted | Updated Reply North Shore home sales continued their upward 2012 trend in November, and are on pace to finish about 30 percent ahead of 2011, according to figures from the Milwaukee Multiple Listing Service . Fifty-seven homes were sold in the communities of Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Fox Point, Bayside and Brown Deer in November, three more than the same month in 2011. For the year there have been 868 sales, a 29.7 percent growth over 2011. That’s in line with the entire four-county metro area, which is up 27.3 percent. (Gestures broadly at everything.) The median existing home sales price of U.S. homes was $389,500 in August, according to the National Association of Realtors. That’s a 7.7% increase from August 2021. The average interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages topped 6% as of Sept. 15 this year, according to Freddie Mac. Compare that with an average rate of 2.86% just one year prior — that’s a 110% increase. It can be hard to compete when an open house feels like a cage match. Former Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack on Sept. 26 sold his 4,275-square-foot condominium in the building at 9 W. Walton Street in the Gold Coast for $6.9 million in an off-market transaction. Mack, 31, starred for the Bears for four seasons before an injury ended his playing in the 2021 season. The Bears traded him to the Los Angeles Chargers in March. On the Gold Coast, Mack paid $6.85 million in March 2021 for the Gold Coast condo, which takes up half of the 28th floor and has a wraparound terrace. The building at 9 W. Walton has been a star-studded one, with high-priced units owned or rented by other athletes. At present, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine rents a unit in the building, while Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane owns a 25th-floor unit in the building that he purchased in 2019.
