It’s coauthored by Pats beat writer Jeff Howe and Scott Zolak, a former Patriots quarterback who now calls the games.Excerpts from the book, published by Triumph Books, were recently posted to The Athletic, a sports website where Howe covers the team. Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles will be under center for the Eagles while Carson Wentz recovers from a torn ACL. The rest of Week 1 kicks off on Sunday, with the New York Giants hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in what will be running back Saquon Barkley's NFL debut. Barkley was the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Sunday will also mean the return of wide receiver Odell Beckham, who missed most of the 2017 season with a broken ankle. Beckham will suit up after signing a five-year, $95-million contract, which includes $65 million in guaranteed money. The Eagles were so paranoid about the Patriots spying on their Super Bowl practices, they held a fake walkthrough at U.S. Bank Stadium before the game to throw off any potential espionage. Philly long snapper Rick Lovato told a Tampa radio station this week the Eagles were super-secretive about plays they practiced, including the legendary “Philly Special,” just in case the Patriots were watching. “We had run that play during a walk-through like two weeks ago,” Lovato told 620 WDAE, adding the Eagles did not practice certain plays on purpose because they were so paranoid. “I believe our whole walk-through was just a complete fake walk-through,” he said. “We did it at the stadium. There were certain people walking around ...
