Airline Pilots Practice Frequently For Engine Failure Events Like One That May Have Happened In Denver
DENVER (AP/CBS4) – Aviation safety experts said United Airlines Flight 328 appeared to have suffered an uncontained and catastrophic engine failure on Saturday over the Denver metro area. The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that the Boeing 777-200 returned to Denver International Airport after experiencing a right-engine failure shortly after takeoff and no one was hurt. Why Do Boeing 777 Engines Keep Exploding?

In 2018, the No. 11 fan blade on the right engine of a United Airlines 777 broke as the plane approached its destination, Honolulu. Its pieces, traveling at high speed, caused a cascade of failures within the engine’s intricate machinery such that within less than a second , the engine’s cover had blown off, leaving the naked core wobbling as it spun. Flying debris caused two punctures in the fuselage but the plane was able to land safely under the power of its remaining engine. Last December, a Japan Airlines 777 suffered a similar engine failure after the No. 16 fan blade of its No. 1 engine broke en route between Naha, Japan, and Tokyo. Baltimore Man Recounts Moments After Engine Failure On United Airlines Flight 328
BALTIMORE (WJZ/CBS4) — A United Airlines passenger jet landed safely in Denver on Saturday after suffering engine failure moments after takeoff. A Baltimore man was on the plane, traveling to Hawaii. That’s when Vena said the plane started shaking. He said it took about half an hour to get the plane to land. CHP: Suspects Took Turns Driving Stolen Fire Engine During Two-Hour Pursuit
MARYSVILLE (CBS13) — Tires blown and rutted in an incline ditch, a two-hour joy ride ended on Highway 70 just north of Oroville for two suspects that stole a fire engine Saturday afternoon. The engine-stealing suspects are in custody but chose not to remain silent.RELATED: Ambulance Stolen In North Sacramento, Abandoned Nearby The pursuit began in Sacramento County. Metro Fire was working a brush call off Elkhorn Boulevard when a firefighter noticed a strange man in one of their engines. “You wouldn’t expect that. So when he noticed someone was on the engine and it took off, we did what we had to do in terms of reporting it,” Captain Chris Vestal of Metro Fire said. From that moment, the chase was on, the male suspect stopped to pick up the female about a mile down the road and then continued to drive.
