Report: DHS Is Allowing Injured Migrants to Stay
President Joe Biden’s deputies are welcoming illegal migrants who are injured while trying to evade border barriers. The Los Angeles Times reported February 26: On a Feb. 18 call with advocates and lawyers, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas grew frustrated when asked about other cases in which border authorities expelled injured migrants under Title 42 [anti-epidemic rules] despite some being unable to walk after falling off the wall, according to [Linda] Corchado, who was on the call. “He was just appalled that people are jumping the wall,” Corchado said. “The point is with Title 42, that’s what happens … people are getting more and more desperate.” Corchado is the Texas-based director of legal services at Las Américas Immigrant Advocacy Center. She is also representing other migrants who were rescued from a snowstorm as they tried to sneak into American’s homeland. “So they’re trying to climb up the wall on the Mexican side, and they’re falling … [Read more...] about Report: DHS Is Allowing Injured Migrants to Stay
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas: We Will Not Expel Children at Our Southern Border
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas sounded a clear note Monday to unaccompanied minors headed for the border, declaring they could come to the United States. “We are not expelling young children,” he said. “We are not apprehending a nine-year-old child who’s come alone, who’s traversed Mexico, who’s parents, who’s loving parents, had sent that child alone.” Mayorkas appeared at the White House press briefing Monday afternoon to answer questions about President Joe Biden’s approach to handling the increasing flow of unattended child migrants coming to the United States from the southern border. Mayorkas said Customs and Border Patrol would continue to apprehend unattended children at the border and work quickly to get them transferred to a facility operated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Under HHS, he said, a child would get health care, mental health care, and would get released to an adult sponsor “as soon as possible.” “We … [Read more...] about DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas: We Will Not Expel Children at Our Southern Border
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas: ‘Loving Parents’ Sending Children Alone to U.S.-Mexico Border
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says, “loving parents” in Central America are sending their children, alone, to the United States-Mexico border. During a press briefing on Monday, Mayorkas said Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) are being sent to the U.S. via an often deadly journey through Mexico by their “loving parents.” “We are not apprehending a 9-year-old child, who has come alone, who has traversed Mexico, whose parents … whose loving parents sent that child alone, we’re not expelling that 9-year-old child to Mexico when that child’s country of origin was Guatemala, Honduras, or El Salvador,” Mayorkas said. Mayorkas said DHS officials, along with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), are attempting to release UACs into the U.S. interior as quickly as possible. According to the U.S. Border Patrol union, President Joe Biden’s DHS has been holding hundreds of UACs in their custody longer than the legal limit. The law … [Read more...] about DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas: ‘Loving Parents’ Sending Children Alone to U.S.-Mexico Border
DHS: United Nations Facilitating Release of Foreign Nationals into U.S.
The United Nations (U.N.) is bringing foreign nationals to the nation’s southern border for release into the interior of the United States, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed on Monday. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said during a press briefing that “international organizations in Mexico” are helping facilitate the release of thousands of foreign nationals who were enrolled in the Remain in Mexico program. “We have developed a virtual platform that enables individuals with active cases in the Remain in Mexico program to actually register for relief,” Mayorkas said. “[T]he organizations then help transport them safely to the port of entry.” DHS officials did not respond to a request from Breitbart News to provide the number of Remain in Mexico migrants who have been released into the U.S. interior thus far. At two ports of entry, about 25 foreign nationals are being released daily, and at another port of entry, about 100 foreign nationals are being released … [Read more...] about DHS: United Nations Facilitating Release of Foreign Nationals into U.S.
