The Biden administration, with Planned Parenthood ally Xavier Becerra at the helm of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced Wednesday its plans to reverse the Trump administration’s Protect Life Rule, which created a clear boundary between abortion and family planning. The announcement of the proposed rule, titled “Ensuring access to equitable, affordable, client-centered, quality family planning services,” said HHS intends to return to the Title X family planning regulations first enacted by the Clinton administration in 2000: HHS proposes to revise the rules issued on March 4, 2019 (84 FR 7714), establishing standards for compliance by family planning services projects authorized by Title X of the Public Health Service Act. Those rules have undermined the public health of the population the program is meant to serve. Dear Amy: My friend, “Cynthia,” and I have been close for 24 years. For most of that time, we have met for lunch once a week (when possible). We are both women over 60. I have a 22-year-old granddaughter, who is gay. Cynthia has decided that I am “too accepting” of gayness in general and has told me that she can no longer be my friend. She has gay family members that she shuns; she told me she wanted me to shun my granddaughter. I will not do that. Cynthia has four grandchildren under the age of 10. Any of them could be gay. I asked her if we could agree to disagree, and she refused. My granddaughter has not asked me to shun anyone who is anti-gay. My friend has many fine qualities, and I enjoyed her company. Bobbi Kristina Brown died Sunday, several months after she was found face down and unresponsive in the bathtub of her Atlanta home.
