Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), who heads the committee tasked with retaining the Democrat Party’s slim House majority in next year’s midterm elections, declared on Tuesday he supports abolishing the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster rule. Maloney, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) chairman, announced his support of invoking the nuclear option — or eliminating the filibuster — through an op-ed in the Hill in which he argued that “the Senate is choosing gridlock over progress” while the rule remains intact. “Democrats must eliminate the filibuster, a shameful anti-democratic relic of Jim Crow, so that we can secure the right to vote and fulfill our promises to the American people,” he wrote. Maloney joins a growing list of far-left Democrats who — while seeking to advance partisan agenda items such as packing the Supreme Court, granting D.C. statehood, federalizing elections, and tightening gun control — argue the rule allows Republicans to pursue endless … [Read more...] about House Democrat Campaign Chief Maloney Endorses Nuking Filibuster: Senate ‘Choosing Gridlock over Progress’
ISLAMABAD - The Taliban have ruled out progress in otherwise stalled peace negotiations with their adversaries in Afghanistan unless, they say, their leaders are removed from U.S. and U.N. sanctions lists. The hardened Taliban stance toward a political settlement to the deadly Afghan conflict comes amid intensified insurgent battlefield attacks, since the United States and NATO began pulling their last remaining troops from the country on May 1. In a commentary published on their official website, the Taliban described the sanctions as an obstacle in the negotiation process, saying that "so long as such lists exist" it would be "unreasonable" for the United Nations and other countries to expect intra-Afghan peace talks to successfully deliver a political settlement. "It is imperative for mutual trust that names of individuals associated with the Islamic Emirate (Taliban) be completely, and not conditionally or temporarily, be removed from black and reward lists," the Taliban … [Read more...] about Taliban Link Progress in Afghan Peace Talks to Delisting of Top Leaders
Another week, another round of failed diplomacy toward Iran. More than three months into its tenure, the Biden administration has made Iran the focal point of its Mideast policy, and seems intent on reviving the Obama administration’s nuclear deal with Iran, despite that agreement’s numerous flaws. The renewed push for engagement with Iran seems to be driven by a conviction on the part of the Biden White House that there is no non-violent alternative to diplomacy with Iran. That’s an idea that has been perpetuated in no small part by pundits who incorrectly define U.S. Iran policy as a binary choice between war and a sweeping settlement involving massive economic inducements to the Iranian regime. Those, however, are hardly America’s only options. In fact, a clear alternative can be found in an approach that seeks to engage the Iranian people, rather than the brutal theocratic regime that rules over them. Such an approach starts with three key elements. First, America needs … [Read more...] about For progress on Iran, focus on the people
One of the primary goals of our nation’s immigration policy is to protect refugees. The Biden administration announced Monday that it is raising the refugee ceiling to 62,500 people this fiscal year. Our nation has a long history of providing relief to individuals seeking protection in America because of persecution in their home country. While support for refugees is consistent with our values, the federal government must provide additional federal dollars to states which will shoulder much of the financial burden in providing services for these refugees. Many states are already struggling with the financial strain caused by COVID . In his address before Congress last week, President Joe Biden Joe Biden Census results show White House doubling down on failure Poll: Americans back new spending, tax hikes on wealthy, but remain wary of economic impact True immigration reform requires compromise from both sides of the aisle MORE urged members … [Read more...] about True immigration reform requires compromise from both sides of the aisle
close Video Tucker: Nothing can prepare you for new CIA video 'Tucker Carlson Tonight' host says CIA has been embracing woke ideology for years If you’ve been on the internet this week, you’ve probably seen the CIA’s most recent recruiting video . If you haven’t seen it, there’s really nothing we can do to prepare you for the experience, except to tell you two things: first, it’s entirely genuine. This is not a hoax, or a deep fake, or the work of some demented comedic genius who’s set up a parody account on Twitter. No. This video is real. The second thing to know is that it’s from the CIA. That’s not the Culinary Institute of America, the people who teach baking and sushi preparation. No. That’s the Central Intelligence Agency, the guys who do waterboarding and subvert foreign elections. The CIA is the most heavily-armed, and supposedly the most sophisticated intelligence-gathering operation on the planet. And yet somehow, they produced this video, and … [Read more...] about Tucker Carlson: Is the CIA’s new wokeness virtue signaling or an attempt to infiltrate the American left?
