Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo confirmed Thursday that former President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Chinese products “have been effective.” In an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, Raimondo discussed how President Joe Biden’s administration plans on dealing with China in terms of a “whole of government response,” and whether or not they would continue any of the policies Trump put in place. “Former President Trump got a lot of credit from a headline basis for taking on China. But go beneath the headline, we didn’t win any trade war. How are you going to address China?” Ruhle began. “We have to be honest, which is to say China’s behavior is anti-competitive, coercive, their human rights abuses are horrific, and they need to be held to account for that,” Raimondo responded. “So, unlike President Trump’s approach of, you know, tweeting out a policy, President Biden’s been very clear, we’re going to be tough on China in a whole of government response.” She … [Read more...] about Biden Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo Confirms Trump’s China Tariffs ‘Have Been Effective’

If they don’t, they will receive two first-round draft picks. “Designating Justin with the franchise tag is a procedural move that allows us to continue working on a long-term deal,” general manager George Paton said in a statement. “We are completely focused on making sure Justin remains a big part of the Denver Broncos for many years to come.” Simmons, 27, is the first player to be franchise tagged this offseason and the second safety to be tagged in consecutive years. Jacksonville safety Donovin Darius was tagged three consecutive seasons from 2003-05. The Senate passed President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill on Saturday. In a 50-49 vote, Senate Democrats voted to pass the American Rescue Plan, which passed the House in a 219-212 vote with no Republican support. Vice President Kamala Harris cast a tie-breaking vote Thursday in the Senate to begin the debate on the American Rescue Plan. Senate Republicans forced a number of votes on the floor Friday to get Democrats on the record regarding a number of controversial issues such as giving relief checks to illegal immigrants and raising taxes on small businesses. Republicans forced votes on issues Democrats might not want to put their names next to, which kept senators on the floor until late into the night. The last “vote-a-rama” occurred in early February but before then had not occurred in over three years. In a budget reconciliation process, which Democrats used to push their relief bill forward, a vote-a-rama can be used to force a vote on … [Read more...] about Senate Passes $1.9 Trillion COVID-19 Relief Bill
