After creating a strong and loyal consumer brew base, Maytag had the freedom to experiment in the spirit world, but he wanted to keep it simple, local, in the vein of the Field poem he alluded to as inspiration: "If, as they say, God spanked the town for being over frisky, why did He burn the churches down and save Hotaling's whiskey?" Just as he turned onto microbrews before the cognoscenti did, Maytag's curiosity regarding microspirits also beat the marketing mavens to the punch. He talked at length about how in the early years his whiskey was considered laughable, and that he kept his pursuit quiet. It simply didn't taste good, nor was the process respected. When wetsuits debuted in Bay Area, surfing was forever changed
That’s right about the time O’Neill came up with the so-called “long john” suits, which offered full-body protection. “There was a lot of resistance — guys were pretty hard-core,” Wise said. “Somebody wore that long-leg thing, he’d hear stuff like, ‘Come on, be a man.’ One guy took one out, and all the Kelly’s guys were throwing sand at him. But he went out and stayed longer than anybody else could. Then his buddies started wearing ’em. From that point, it just took off. Eventually he bought out the store’s owner, expanded the store into a wholesale business and moved it to a larger space on Jackson Street. … [Read more...] about In wake of Sapporo beer deal, Anchor Distilling rechristened as Hotaling & Co.

He is likely to get unanimous support from Democrats, despite his long record of corruption, including pressuring agency officials to provide green cards — and citizenship — to Chinese buyers of EB-5 green cards and citizenship. If he gets the DHS job, he is expected to open many regulatory doors in the border — and then defend his open-borders policies from the public by citing his family identity as a refugee from Nazis and Fidel Castro. … [Read more...] about Democrats Push Ahead with Three Alternative Amnesty Strategies
