It’s often what saves our lives and is the body’s natural fight-or-flight mechanism, helping us defend against or avoid danger. But if elements of that fight-or-flight reaction continue after the traumatic event, or if you’re replaying it on a loop after months have passed, it could signal the presence of post-traumatic stress disorder and a need for treatment. About 8 million adults deal with PTSD annually, according to the National Center for PTSD. “People start experiencing post-traumatic stress symptoms because they struggle to rationalize things and say, ‘what I’m experiencing now is not the same thing. She’s been textbook “ready” for quite a while now, but as an inherently lazy person, I’ve been procrastinating for months. I mean, does any parent ever feel like undertaking this task? But as I see my child’s preschool colleagues master this skill one-by-one — using the bathroom like underpants-wearing rock stars while I bring diapers with my head hung in shame — I realize my time for procrastination is over.I Googled “How to potty train your child in one day.” Because there has to … [Read more...] about I successfully potty trained four kids, but I can’t get my fifth to do it
