Washington voters in November will decide whether to approve Initiative 1631, a measure pushed by a big coalition of environmentalists, labor unions, Northwest Indian tribes and others. The proposal has drawn in major oil companies that own refineries in the state – they’ve dropped $20 million to defeat the measure. Supporters have raised $6 million. But as the national economy turned around, Kasich and the Republican-controlled state legislature were able to restore the state's finances, he said. "We had a pretty good relationship, the ability to talk and get things done," Faber said during a recent interview for Ohio Matters, cleveland.com's politics podcast. "And we got a lot of great things together." Kasich has become somewhat of a political pariah in the Ohio Republican Party ever since Donald Trump won the presidential election and replaced the pro-Kasich state party leadership with his own. Faber is notable in that he was a huge supporter of Kasich's run for president -- even campaigning for him in 14 states -- who turned around and vocally backed Trump after … [Read more...] about Keith Faber on John Kasich: ‘We got a lot of great things done together’ — Ohio Matters podcast: Episode 33
The Red Sox and Yankees begin a three-game series tonight that will close the regular season. Also, the Celtics travel to Charlotte to play a preseason game against the Hornets. Here’s a look at a few other stories. Vince Wilfork was on the McCourty twins’ podcast: Former Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork stopped by “Double Coverage,” the podcast hosted by Devin and Jason McCourty. Among myriad topics, including his retirement nap schedule, how he would cover Randy Moss if he was a cornerback, and Tiger Woods, Wilfork offered his thoughts on the 1-2 Patriots: If you look around the league, everybody’s always going to look at the Patriots different, because they’ve been so successful over the years. Basically from 2000 till now, [they’ve] run the NFL. I mean when we talk about the postseason, Patriots are one, OK who’s everyone else? Super Bowl, AFC? OK, so right now you basically have to humble yourself, get back to work.
