BOSTON -- Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown will miss Game 1 against the Philadelphia 76ers with the hamstring injury he suffered in Game 7 on Saturday. When Stevens talked to reporters pre-game, he told reporters Brown was "highly doubtful," although he said Brown was feeling notably better. "He went through stuff this morning, though they cut him short from going through the whole workout," Stevens said. "He feels a lot better because he's anxious to play, so that's part of the discussion." Brown's absence further decimates an already decimated Celtics roster. The Celtics will be missing Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and Daniel Theis for the rest of the season. In Brown, the Celtics lose their top scorer of the postseason and a wing Stevens called "one of our best players" at shootaround. Marcus Smart will start in Brown's place, while Aron Baynes will reclaim his starting spot from Semi Ojeleye. Boston's starting lineup in full will be Baynes, Ojeleye, Smart, Terry Rozier … [Read more...] about Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers: Jaylen Brown out for Game 1, Marcus Smart & Aron Baynes will start
Philadelphia 76ers starting lineup
The Boston Celtics defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7 on Saturday, a team that employs one of the most unique and physical players in the NBA in Giannis Antetokounmpo. On Monday, in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Celtics will take on a team with two of the most unique and physical players in the NBA: The Philadelphia 76ers. During the regular season, the Celtics found ways to limit and counter Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, but that was before the rash of injuries stole several of Boston's best players. The Sixers, meanwhile, have been rolling over the last two months of the season and enter the second-round series with a ton of confidence. The last time these teams matched up was on January 18, so we don't have any recent samples to draw from, but from what we know over the course of the season, let's take a look at five of the matchups that could help decide the series. 1. Aron Baynes vs. Joel Embiid The Celtics love Baynes' defensive ability, but he … [Read more...] about Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers: Jayson Tatum, Ben Simmons & five second-round matchups to watch
Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown is doubtful for Monday's Game 1 matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Celtics coach Brad Stevens. According to Stevens, Brown's tests looked good, but he was still sore after suffering a Grade 1 hamstring strain in Boston's Game 7 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Brown came up limping in the second quarter after attempting to jump stop and pass to Terry Rozier roughly two minutes before halftime. Stevens added that Brown didn't run on Sunday, but he didn't completely rule him out in Game 1 or for the rest of the series. After Game 7, Brown told reporters he hated taking pills, but the Celtics had him on anti-inflammatories. "So just whatever it takes, because I wouldn't miss this next series for the world," Brown said. Brown said that the Celtics' training staff gave him the choice of sitting the rest of the game or making himself available. The Celtics announced Brown was available to return midway through the third … [Read more...] about Boston Celtics Injuries: Jaylen Brown ‘doubtful’ for Game 1 vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will return to the starting lineup Thursday night for Game 3 of the team's first-round NBA playoff series at the Miami Heat. Embiid hasn't played since March 28 when he suffered a fractured orbital bone after colliding with teammate Markelle Fultz. He underwent surgery a couple days later and hasn't played since. Embiid is starting alongside Ben Simmons, JJ Redick, Robert Covington and Dario Saric. He'll play wearing a protective mask. During the regular season, Embiid averaged 22.9 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in 63 games. The Sixers, who won 52 games in the regular season and clinched the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, won their first nine games without Embiid before falling to the Heat in Game 2 of the series Monday. After that defeat, Embiid expressed frustration with his slow return from the injury and posted on Instagram that he was "[expletive] sick and tired of being babied." Embiid was listed … [Read more...] about Joel Embiid returns to starting lineup for Game 3 of Sixers-Heat

You can also email me at [email protected]@Alenforza45k: Is there a possibility of a different Heat starting lineup for Game 2? Anthony Chiang: Sure, there’s always a possibility. But I would be pretty surprised if Erik Spoelstra made that change this early in the series. Game 1 definitely didn’t go well, but it was one game. The Heat don’t usually overreact to one game — whether it’s a 30-point loss or a 30-point win. Miami has used 25 different starting lineups this season due mostly to injuries, but the … [Read more...] about Mailbag: Is a change coming to the Miami Heat’s starting lineup?
