Somebody in the MIAC wants St. Thomas out. Nobody in the MIAC want to talk about it. Presidents from the 13 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools will meet Thursday to discuss the possibility of changing league bylaws that would result in the ejection of St. Thomas, which helped found the athletics conference which has been associated with the NCAA’s Division III since 1973. A source close to situation told the Pioneer Press that school presidents, plus MIAC commissioner Dan McKane and assistant commissioner BJ Pickard, will meet in person to discuss the possibility of expelling St. Thomas — winner of 15 national titles since 1973 — from the league. No one from the conference or member schools would comment on Thursday’s meeting, or what might have brought complaints about St. Thomas to a head. The Pioneer Press has reached out to all 13 schools and nearly all of them either declined comment through a spokesperson, deferring to the MIAC for … [Read more...] about Some in MIAC want St. Thomas out. By Kerry Crowley | [email protected] | Bay Area News GroupApril 1, 2019 at 7:04 pm LOS ANGELES–The Dodgers wasted little time sending a loud message to the rest of the league during the first weekend of the season. With the Diamondbacks in town, the Dodgers set a new franchise record for runs in a four-game series with 42 as they pounded Arizona’s pitching staff en route to three high-scoring wins. When the Giants arrived on Monday, a local TV reporter decided to ask manager Bruce Bochy what he thought of the Dodgers’ prolific offense and Bochy offered his honest opinion. “I don’t want to think about it.” Against a Dodgers lineup that features two impressive young left-handed hitters in Cody Bellinger and Corey Seager, Bochy and the Giants set the team’s rotation so that three left-handed starters would pitch in Los Angeles. Both Bellinger and Seager are starting Monday, but with Drew Pomeranz pitching for the Giants, the Dodgers … [Read more...] about Bruce Bochy on Dodgers offense: ‘I don’t want to think about it’
U.S. Donald Trump Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel said yesterday that he doesn’t want to discuss the president on a daily basis but is left with no other option because he is terrible. “I don’t want to talk about Donald Trump every night,” he told the Jimmy Kimmel Live! audience. “None of us do. None of us who host these shows do, but he gives us no choice.” The U.S. comedian was responding to criticism sparked by comments made by former Tonight Show host Jay Leno on The Today Show yesterday. Referring to Trump, Leno shared his belief that most segments had become too partisan and only have “one topic every night.” “All the comics—Jimmy, Colbert, everybody else—it’s tough when that’s the only topic out there,” Leno said when asked how the talk show scene had changed since he left in 2014. The president picked up on the sentiment in one of his many Twitter posts yesterday. "The one-sided hatred on these … [Read more...] about ‘I Don’t Want To Talk About Trump Every Night’ Jimmy Kimmel Says as President Complains of ‘One-sided Hatred’

HUFFPOST PERSONAL 07/30/2018 08:57 am ET By Emily McCombs I wasn’t surprised this morning when a dude yelled, “BABY I LOVE YOUR TATS” at me I walked to the train from my apartment. After all, it’s summer and the height of “tatcalling” season. This is just The Way It Is if you’re a heavily tattooed woman in public during one of the less-clothed months. A few times a day, men on the street will yell something at me about my tattoos ― my “tats,” my “ink” ― that ranges from vaguely complimentary to overtly sexual. Tatcalling is a subset of street harassment, something that is unequivocally wrong in all its forms. But lately I’ve been noticing that nearly every interaction I have with strange men about my tattoos, even when they aren’t street-harassing or being explicitly sexual, ends up feeling creepy and predatory. If we know one another ― even if we are in … [Read more...] about I Don’t Want To Talk About My Tattoos With Strange Men
