BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Bowling Green State University has placed a fraternity on interim suspension over “alleged hazing activity” following the hospitalization of a student in an alcohol-related incident. The university said it was working with law enforcement investigating Pi Kappa Alpha in what the fraternity’s parent organization called “an alleged incident of alcohol-related hazing at an off-campus event” that left officials “horrified and outraged.” The parent organization said the case involved “a student and an unreported new member” of the Delta Beta chapter. Baldwin High School Students Raise Thousands Of Dollars Through Polar Pop Event For Special Olympics Of Pennsylvania
By: KDKA-TV News Staff PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Students at Baldwin High School were freezing for a reason this past Friday. More than 60 students took part in the Polar Pop. The event was to raise money for Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. Organizers said that because of the pandemic, the event took the place of the traditional polar plunge. The students didn’t seem to mind having ice-cold water ballons popped over their heads. “The experience was fun. Police Detain Knife-Wielding Man Attempting Stabbing Attack Near Jewish School In France
French police arrested a man after he attempted a stabbing attack outside of a Jewish school and kosher market in Marseille, France on Friday morning. Security guards at the Yavne School in Marseille noticed a suspicious man brandishing a knife outside their premises. Right before the suspect attempted to enter a nearby kosher market, the guards swiftly detained him before he was able to harm anyone, local police told the Associated Press (AP). The area was a hotspot for the local Jewish community where students and parents often buy food and meals before the Sabbath at the nearby kosher market. France Proposes Sweeping New Law To Crack Down On Islamic Extremism
A draft of a new law aimed at combating Islamic extremism was introduced by the French government Wednesday. The proposed law targets places like home schools and mosques that teach principles counter to French values, according to the Associated Press . President Emmanuel Macron has spoken recently about a need to rid France of “separatists” that are undermining the country.
