An Iowa school district policy allows students to spend overnight trips with the students who share their “gender identity.” The discrimination policy at Linn-Mar Community School District in Linn County, Iowa, gives students a Gender Support Plan which makes “appropriate arrangements” for students in seventh grade or older wishing to change their gender identity at school, according to the policy. Students can spend overnight school trips in rooms with whichever gender they identify with as a part of the Gender Support Plan. (RELATED: Virginia School To Provide Genderless Bathrooms For Second Graders) Students in seventh through 12th grade can customize their own Gender Support Plan by asking to meet with any school administrator, the policy states. The student will meet with an administrator within 10 days of their request to make arrangements for the student “regarding names/pronouns, restroom and locker facilities, overnight accommodations on school trips and … [Read more...] about Iowa School District Allows Students To Spend Overnight Trips With Whichever Gender They Identify With

Officials Blast Amnesty International Report Accusing Ukraine of Endangering Civilians
A report from Amnesty International published Thursday claims that Ukrainian forces are putting civilians at risk by setting up bases in residential neighborhoods, even as authorities continue to deride Russian forces for committing atrocities against Ukrainians. “Ukrainian forces have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas, including in schools and hospitals, as they repelled the Russian invasion that began in February,” Amnesty International said in a statement. “Such tactics violate international humanitarian law and endanger civilians, as they turn civilian objects into military targets.” Russian strikes have hit civilians in populous areas where Ukraine has set up bases, Amnesty said. Ukraine’s tactics have put civilians in harm’s way in 19 towns, in part because they launched strikes from residential areas and based themselves in civilian buildings in the Kharkiv, Donbas, and Mykolaiv regions, … [Read more...] about Officials Blast Amnesty International Report Accusing Ukraine of Endangering Civilians
I experienced the festival opulence of the $2,000 Outside Lands VIP pass
Anyone who has ever been to a music festival knows that using the bathroom is an annoying chore at best, and at worst, a test of how long you can hold your breath and bladder. However, on Saturday afternoon at Outside Lands , armed with my Golden Gate Club wristband, that experience was “elevated.” Instead of waiting to exhale, I breathe deeply as I cleanse my hands in the spacious lavatory trailer with mid-tier designer soap (Public Goods, if you must know). Then I spritzed myself with a facial mist that smelled like fresh sheets from a boutique hotel. A wristband that allows entry to this luxurious bathroom, as well as a host of other perks including front of stage access, costs $1,995 for one day, plus fees (general admission is $175). I was given media access to this exclusive wonderland in order to experience the grandeur, and report back to you, the reader who is likely spending that amount of money on a month’s pandemic-reduced rent in a one-bedroom San Francisco … [Read more...] about I experienced the festival opulence of the $2,000 Outside Lands VIP pass
Kevin Smith Slams Warner Bros. for Axing ‘Batgirl’ but Still Releasing ‘The Flash’: ‘That Is Baffling’
Click here to read the full article. Kevin Smith spoke out against Warner Bros.’ axing of “ Batgirl ” during the latest episode of his “Hollywood Babble-On” YouTube show. The filmmaker called it “an incredible bad look” for the studio to drop the rare comic book tentpole to be headlined by a Latina actor, especially when Warner Bros. is still moving forward on the release of its Ezra Miller-led tentpole “ The Flash .” “It’s an incredibly bad look to cancel the Latina Batgirl movie,” Smith said. “I don’t give a shit if the movie was absolute fucking dog shit – I guarantee you that it wasn’t. The two directors [Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi] who directed that movie did a couple of episodes of ‘Ms. Marvel,’ and it was a wonderful fucking show and they had more money to do ‘Batgirl’ than they had to do an episode of ‘Ms. Marvel’ and stuff.” More from Variety 'Scoob!: Holiday Haunt' Producer Reveals Score Being Recorded After Film's Axing: 'Already Paid for the … [Read more...] about Kevin Smith Slams Warner Bros. for Axing ‘Batgirl’ but Still Releasing ‘The Flash’: ‘That Is Baffling’
Enes Kanter Freedom: White House Cannot Exchange ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner
“I want [Brittney Griner] to return back home. … [but] we cannot trade that horrible human being for her. It’s just not a fair trade,” professional basketball player Enes Kanter Freedom said during a Friday appearance on Fox News’ The Story with Martha MacCallum. Freedom, who has been an outspoken critic on human rights issues in countries such as Communist China, officially added the “Freedom” to his name after becoming a U.S. citizen in 2021. WNBA player Griner, who was arrested in February in a Moscow airport with CDB oil in her luggage, was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison on drug charges by a Russian court Thursday morning. The Biden administration reportedly made an offer to swap Brittney for convicted arms dealer and “Merchant of Death” Viktor Bout, who is being held on a 25-year sentence in the U.S. for selling weapons to a Columbian terror group. “I’ve been following her case very closely and the one thing that I will say, we cannot be sending a … [Read more...] about Enes Kanter Freedom: White House Cannot Exchange ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner
Pete Rose Dismisses Allegations of Sex with Minor: ‘It was 55 Years Ago, Babe’
MLB legend Pete Rose got a bit vexed while he was in Philadelphia for the team’s 1980 World Champion celebration on Sunday when a reporter revived accusations that he had a sexual affair with a minor back in the 1970s. During the press availability portion of the celebration of the Phillies’ big season, Philadelphia Inquirer sportswriter Alex Coffey asked if his “presence” at the celebration sent a “negative message to women.” Charlie Hustle, who was banned from Major League Baseball in 1989 over gambling charges, reportedly replied, “No, I’m not here to talk about that. Sorry about that. It was 55 years ago babe.” I asked Pete Rose what he would say to people who say his presence here sends a negative message to women. His response: “No, I’m not here to talk about that. Sorry about that. It was 55 years ago babe.” — Alex Coffey (@byalexcoffey) August 7, 2022 Rose also offered a longer comment on the accusations, saying, “I’m going to tell you one more time.
