But for this year’s fright night, the top costume choices, according to workingmother.com, are Mary Poppins, Black Panther, Violet from The Incredibles, Winnie the Pooh, Han Solo, Thanos from The Avengers, Wonder Woman and Vampirina. For those unfamiliar with the newer Disney character on the scene, Vampirina is a little blue vampire girl with batlike ears who tries to fit in when her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania. But ghosts endure as a solid symbol of Halloween, as do witches, monsters, spiders, mummies and all sorts of other old-school scary, ghoulish icons. The Grub Scout: 5 great barbecue places in East Tennessee
The Grub Scout Columnist Published 2:53 p.m. UTC Jul 31, 2018 Even though it’s back-to-school time for a lot of folks, I’m one of those people who stubbornly cling to every possible last vestige of summer. To me, the season doesn’t end until the autumnal equinox, and even then, as long as swimming pool water is warm enough to still take a dip, it’s summer as far as I’m concerned. With that in mind, I say it’s not too late to talk about barbecue restaurants — five of my area favorites, to be specific. This was a toughie, because there are a lot of solid ‘cue joints in town, but when pressed to name my fave quintet, this is what I came up with. Here they are, as usual, in no particular order.
